1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

now that I have the #8 LWB antique from leffot on preorder, im at a dilemma as to what to do with my jcrew #8 lwb on crepe that are currently in the marketplace..

do I keep them for a more formal use (albeit with a crepe sole), or get them resoled by B.Nelson with standard dark sole.. My intentions when I got the jcrews were to convert them to the leffots, but now that the leffots will eventually arrive.. im at a crossroad..

    keep as crepe
convert to dark leather sole or possibly dainite
continue to trying to sell them..

Personally I say sell. For me, I woudn't be able to justify having almost identical shoes.

That's what I was leaning towards (hence me making the classified ad), but I guess the price is still a little high. I'll let them sit for a bit, then may just get imbulsize and send them off to BNelson

    thanks for the feedback!

^ Sell them or else keep them as a bad-weather beater shoe.

My opinion was given relative to one comparison - cigar LWB v. Ravello LWB - and which one is more versatile. Cigar is. I own both models. Dark brown is more versatile than medium (reddish) brown. Medium (reddish) brown is more versatile than light brown/tan.

If the question is which color (cigar or ravello) is further from color 8, the answer is ravello.

If you don't mind me asking, which retailer are you on a list with for whiskey PTBs? I asked Alden DC, and they said my name is on a list, but they currently have no plans to re-order at this time. They just said they will let me know if and when they do.

I want. A cigar LWB. So bad. I'm pretty good on #8 now, have most of what I want but can't seem to find any cigar.

Alden SF. I am told I have the next 7.5D reserved. This is the response I got from Brenda in Jan of 2013

"We will put your name on the next available pair but we can't give a delivery date.
It's going to be at least a 6 month wait and quite possibly much longer.
Our factory is having difficulty obtaining the leather but we hope to have them eventually.
Wish we could be more helpful."

They did receive a few pairs last December but they didn't get my size. I am feeling optimistic that I will see them in the next 6-48 months.

I had the Leffot black Naval boots from the last go-round but ended up selling them unused as I just don't wear black often enough to justify the cost and the space they were taking up in my closet. I noticed that the 7.5E in the color #8 was gone from the presale in about 3 minutes... thankfully I managed to get in though.

I suspect that whoever suggested that Leffot might order only one pair in most of the "common" sizes and the presale on the site was limited to just 24 pairs was correct.

    Gentlemen,

I have been on the road for the past 6 weeks or so for work and am finally back home. The first and biggest of the SD fires actually started a few thousand feet from my house, fortunately the winds blew the other way and my shoes (and house) are fine. My heart goes out to those who did lose their homes though.

I got to take out my new (maiden voyage) Tan Suede LHS on this hot San Diego day. This is actually my third pair of Tan Suede LHS. My first pair was a BB variant that I got off eBay and they were not labeled correctly, so I had to sell them as they were too wide for my feet. Then I decided I really liked that variant and BB had a sale that included the Tan Suede LHS, so I picked them up. Finally, I went to The Shoe Mart in the flesh and they had a pair of Tan Suede LHSes (Unlined - unlike the brooks version) as seconds that were mis-matched sizes. I got them super cheap (below seconds pricing) and so I just returned the BB Tan Suede LHS. I am very happy with them and actually like them better than the BB version as they are much lighter and more comfortable! Looking forward to wearing more Aldens than my #8 LHS and #8 Perf Tip, which are my standard road warriors.

No, I forced myself to sit that one out. Hoping for good karma in my hunt for the elusive cigar LWB! If that PCT had a regular black welt though I would have jumped on it.

My situation is similar and I have mine in the marketplace as well. I know crepe doesn't get a lot of love on this site but of my 20 or so shell shoes and boots, my jcrew crepes are easily my favorite, most comfortable, and most versatile. They are sold out and I don't think jcrew plans another release. If mine were 1/2 size smaller, I can think of 3 shoes/boots I would sell in place of them. If mine don't sell at the listed price, I will keep and use as bad weather beaters.

Long winded way of saying finances permitting, keep em as crepe!!!!!
