There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Humm I wear my BB unlined black shell LHS penny's all the time. Have them on now with navy shorts. I do wear a lot of LHS models sockless in the Spring Summer and Fall. Black shell is mostly overlooked on this forum.

To be honest, I'm pretty much done at this point - there are two other boots I'd love to have, but I've more or less hit a good balance point for how I dress.

I'd like a Ravello boot, and I'm waiting for JG to do another Short Wing #8 boot on plaza / commando. I'd like a #8 SW Bal, and that's pretty much it....

Your day trippers are great, no doubt about that!

Same here. I've got plenty of shoes. Aside from a Ravello boot, there's nothing I need from Alden. In fact, if enough people would go in for a sleek (or just non-country) teak Tricker's boot, I wouldn't even need that.

Although I guess I'd like one of the monochrome saddles too.

Buckeye - would you mind sharing what your top 5 most coveted Aldens are? And maybe note which you wear the most often? I own one pair (975) with an eye on several others (likely shell boots for my next acquisition). Always nice to get perspective from somebody with some more hindsight and selection.

Chukkas and Indy in snuff or chocolate suede are sweet options. However, if you're looking for a shoe I highly recommend the snuff LWB or PTB...

Agree on the saddle - somebody posted one a few weeks ago that I really liked, but it wouldn't really fit with how I dress, and I would just be buying it to have.

And I don't want to collect things, if it's not regularly worn, it's got to go...

I pass through Madrid regularly, and I want one of their whole cut calf shoes, and they have a cordovan boot I like.

I have the black medallion toe (full prepay) coming from J.Gilbert as well, so I'm pretty much all set...

The 975 is a very traditional, classic model. I doubt it would scream attention to your feet. However, if you opt for the antique edge and welt from Leffot, it will draw quite a bit of attention. If modesty is what you are looking for, the 975 should be up your alley.

you know.. I wonder if that would clog the thread up and annoy people (everyone listing what they truly feel are their final alden purchases and then they'd be tapped out...)

    eff it, I'll start...

Jcrew ravello LWB from a year or so ago
#8 lwb antique sole from leffot (just preordered)
snuff ptb from whomever offers (will get on impulse by whichever retailer is offering a decent deal, or second hand through the B&S here)
    cigar lwb, antique sole
black calf balm for occasional use, although I might just step outside alden for this due to limited use vs cost

those five and I think I'm truly done.

I personally think you've selected a model that is less likely to draw attention. Sure the design will draw eyes to it, but it's an 'understated' classic color (compared to whiskey or ravello)..

and, should you be 11.5 on the barrie last... check my sig [IMG]

Anybody else get the email from TSM to sign up for their new "Special Edition" Alden email list? I wonder what we can expect from this...I also wonder if Alden gave their OK or if they will nix it if they find out.

Would definitely be down for that. loving some of the Trickers shell models, especially in the shades they appear to be able to offer

I did. hit submit, as they requested. Will see what happens.

TSM isn't typically my go to retailer for purchases, so I'm not expecting much.. But, change is good.

I just wish Alden would revamp their entire internet presence, from bottom up.

Sure, but it must be known that my work attire is dress casual - jean and a button down, occasionally chinos. Im a boot guy buying for fall to spring, winter is a different set

    1) I really coveted the Leffot NST with Antique edge, I got the Context Tanker instead. When I get it resoled, I'll try to get it done on a med antique edge.

    2) I wanted a Ravello short wing shoe - I got a Whiskey SW and I burnished the toed and heel a bit darker. I love this shoe, and it really is fantastic with denim IMO

    3) I wanted a black cordovan boot - I picked up the medallion toe boot on commando from J Gilbert.

    4) I really wanted the Cigar Cap Toes - check as of today

    5) I would like a Ravello (or a dark Whiskey) Short Wing boot, preferably on Grant / Plaza + Commando. 5a is the same boot in #8

I also have a Whiskey LHS and Cigar LWB, but I haven't found my groove with the LHS, so unless it calls to me soon, it will be sold to one of you guys.

I like things with character, so new doesn't do it for me - and in my mind, with time and age, #8 and Cigar will age to similar brown shades, which is fantastic. That's what I'm looking for - well lived in leather.

I have other winter boots in CXL and Kudu for the foul weather.

EDIT - I forgot J Gilbert has a #8 plain toe on plaza / commando that I really like too and would likely grab if they had my size...

    Cheers,
    BN

Didn't get it. Is there an online form (website) or is it sent to specific e-mails?

I do get their seconds list.

Clog the thread, nah - we're talking about Alden shoes and boots, on topic and basically limiting it to 5-6 pieces. I'm being honest, I really like shell - but the feeding frenzy is a bit crazy. I am fortunate to have come to a nice (not excessive) point that works for me - so I'm good, and have this place to thank for it.

There are some great things posted here, I'm just not compelled to own all of it...

To address you list, if I move into Calf and Suede, for the price, the list of manufactures opens up for me.
