1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Thanks for the kind words mdubs. I really enjoy my nsts. Your jcrew ravello + brass lwbs are killer. I want some.
That's a great shot. I love me some lwbs.
I really like your results. I think it makes that shoe look much better, I assume leffot will be offering light edge #8 monks this fall.

Finally got mine Plain toe chromexcel from ups ,
The welt used by the make ups from j crew and the plain toes from alden of san Francisco is different , i prefer the styling of the j crew ones a little more.
The j crews are a us8 and the natural cromexcel ones are a us8.5 , fu,I wear a wolverines us8 and the Chromexcel ones felt roughly around the same size, But the j crews us 8 are definitely smaller than the wolverines. Is there a tendency for the make ups from j crew to run a bit smaller ? .
I hope i am on the right track on sizing up mineself, only time would tell :/ ,

I don't often get to post in here... one of the perils of working from home (and of course, of being fairly poor).

This evening was the maiden voyage for my #8 captoe boots on the grant last, originally purchased with Ben Silver.

i'm thrilled with how they look although I am a bit concerned that the cap toe is so much darker than the rest of the boot in brighter light.

    Nice work! Looks great.

I just wanted to comment that you didn't change the welt or the welt color, you changed the color of the sole edge. The welt is the material that is between the sole and upper (where the stitching is). Just for future reference.

One of my favorites. I think the color variation makes your boots look even more amazing.

    They look great, Shawnc.
FYI It is leather, not wood.

I mentioned this process yesterday to those interested.
The only word of wisdom I feel obligated to say is the following...
Use masking tape on the upper to protect it during the sanding process.
I used painters tape, when I refurbished a pair of old Florsheims that I bought and sold.
You do not want to try to get sandpaper scratches out of shell.

High praise indeed coming from someone with your impeccable taste in shoes. I offered Leffot my services for a place on their recent pre-order. Let's just say they were not as impressed as you :).

Slip of the proverbial tongue. Point taken.

Thanks BK. Strange but for some reason I always considered the edge to be wood. Appreciate the correction. And your advice is solid. No matter how steady you think your hands are, it is simply not worth the risk.

All that talk yesterday about not spending money and being financially responsible and then I go and do this. Ugh. I am ashamed of myself. No, it wasn't a shoe but my other weakness and one that is much more expensive that led to my downfall - watches. [IMG]

I absolutely love those natural Chromexcel boots; they are gorgeous! What sole is on those?…crepe? Is this model still in production and available to purchase? I have looked and can't seem to find them anywhere.

I was going to post pics once it arrives and I decide that I am going to keep it - Omega Speedmaster pro. I had no intentions of buying one but thought the deal was too good to pass up and I am an Omega fan. For some reason their watches appeal to me more than any other brand.
