Aldens are never worth $1300. Even with the shell prices skyrocketing and Alden shell hitting round $800 those shoes are over-priced by at least $400. At $1300 you are in Vass/GG/EG shell country.

^^^ Those look incredible. Better in your shots than on the Leffot site IMO.

an excuse to not obsess over the scratches I put into a pair of grant lasted #8 boots when I accidentally bumped up against a wheeled-office chair whose wheel coverings protrude.

To my disbelief the deer bone did best to remove those fine set office chair scratches at the heal.

Thanks epc2, they are very similar but subtlety different. The J Crew has stitching along the ankle, double lines in the perf broguing as opposed to one line on the Naval boot, and a 270 welt versus a 360 welt. Also, even though they're the same size and on the same barrie last their fit is completely different. Where the J Crew boot feels slightly narrower in width, the Leffot boot is really full and roomy.

Stopped by Citishoes today. For those looking for a color 8 Indy on commando soles, they have them. The difference between this version and the Shoe Mart's version is that they have a close heel at Citishoes.
