I would love to watch them fix that. I make holsters. It's very crude compared to shoe making.

They would just patch it by putting another piece of leather on top of it. Wouldn't they?

nice pair of LHS, TT. Rich looking color. Frankly I'm a bit envious whenever i see these posted. I just can't get a decent fit with the Van last. It fits okay as a lace up (like the Rangers I posted earlier) but with the LHS, not so great (although I have a suede pair that looks great and fits okay because I sized down .5).

Thanks CEE88! I'm finding the Van Last fits me better than the Barrie.

what size you need? i think i can dig up 11.5 and 12d. but at this point, it's likely pilfered.. better to just call them.

possible your email is dropping their emails into spam folder

TT, that's all that really matters, right? Aesthetics is one thing, but if a last works for your feet, then you go with it. A couple of years ago I got a beautiful pair of BB unlined color 8 LHS on a hefty discount (like, 30 or 35% off? maybe for getting a BB credit card - I can't recall). I stewed about those shoes for a week. The heel area was just too wide (so with each step I took my heel slipped out) and my arch isn't pronounced enough so the sides buckled too much. Ultimately I packed them up and returned them. Ugh. I do have a suede LHS but it's a full size down from my "TTS" so it's a bit short but it feels comfortable.

The Van last lace up Rangers actually work well -- reduces/eliminsates the heel slippage, feels secure across the arch, and I like the look of them.

Good luck with the repair if you choose to go ahead with it!

Have you had this repair done on your shoes? Seems like a pretty costly repair...I too am interested in this answer. Do you have before and after pictures?

Went on over to Alden SF yesterday and picked up a pair of the black shell cordovan Indy boot. These are beauties in person! Was surprised I could not find any pictures of them. Well, in case anyone else is looking, here's a few.

Please excuse the black on black action up there, it was the quickest surface I could find.

    Details:
    -Alden style code 40569H
    -Barrie last
    -360 degree welt (closed heel)
    -Storm welt
    -Double waterlock soles

I also think these Indy boots are one of the most exceptionally finished shoes I have purchased from Alden, the other one being the Day Tripper. The shell is extremely supple. The tongue is unlined and surprisingly the bottom is dyed green. I was hoping Alden left it in its original color, and even hoped to see a Horween stamp. I have a hunch that Alden puts more care into their makeups for the factory-owned stores. Also, I highly recommend rubbing down the shoes when you first purchase them. Shoes often come with a leftover layer of polish from the factory, and I was quite amazed at how much leftover was on these.
