1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

[IMG] Lots of dealers offer a black wingtip blucher in shell and/or calf- Alden of Carmel, Shoemart etc...perhaps not on the Leydon last...but it is a pretty common shoe... You should try emailing them- I have had pretty good success with that: general@aldenshoe.com
Thanks...I plan on visiting my local (Washington DC) Alden store to see what they have to offer. At the very least, figure out my size since this will be my first Alden shoe purchase. Here's to hoping that they have a good selection. Do Alden shoes fit uniformly across the board? Just curious because I keep hearing about shoes with different lasts, etc.

Anybody know what Alden is charging for a resole these days? How about turnaround time? I know I could call them, but they never answer their phone and I'm often not able to take a call back so it makes it tough.

    $145.

    hey king stink,

checkout the leather soul page, they have a beautiful natty long wing!!!

Yeah I saw them but I just don't like the look of the crepe sole. If it wasn't for that I would have already placed my order.

Here are some poor pics of a new pair of Indy's in natural chrom....

I really love these. First, they don't have the typical boxy looking moc toe, there is no stitching and they actually look more tailored or sleek. Second, the sole and heel treatment is far different. They are still heavy but sleek. The description of the shoe says the sole and heel is neoprene and cork, but it's a lot different than the Indy as can be seen. Actually has the appearance of an oiled leather.

I'm really pleased I got these before they were gone and hope Alden does more in this pattern.

Please forgive the poor photo skills.

If anyone has these in a 10D, and need to unload them, I'll take them. These are terrific boots..

    Hello Tom,

I heard on the forums that Alden will no longer size down a width when they recraft a shoe. Can you confirm this?

Can anyone point me to a retailer that has a cigar boot with commando sole for sale? It can be any type of boot, but just looking for that cigar goodness with a winter sole. Tried the usual places but have come up empty. Or if you have one for sale let me know (US11-11.5).

Alden DC has some cigar captoe boots on the Grant last with the commando sole. Beautiful boots.

Is there anyone following this thread who's an employee at Alden? It'd be really cool to hear from someone making these great shoes and boots. I think they'd enjoy rockstar status around here.

Heya'...my Context Tankers in #8 shell just caught up with me (shipping and travel issues) and as excited as I was to get them, think I'm going to be selling. They are new, no creases. One shoe was tried on for GF and a friend. Between the three of us, we all thought it made my foot look big. Beautiful boots but just not for me...damn.
Anyway, will be listing on B&S for $600 firm if paypal gift and +4% if not.

    They are size 9 D

On their website, this boot looks a bit "distressed"...especially from the side view....in your pic it doesn't appear to be so. Can you confirm?

Also, I don't know if you used a coupon or not, but can anyone tell me how it is possible to purchase Aldens from J.Crew using any discount code or coupon? It seems like people keep mentioning this possibility, but whenever they have a sale, they take the Aldens offline?
