^ these posts reminded me that I put my name down for a couple make-ups with LS at least two years ago. I still hope they come to fruition, but my life was no worse off having forgotten about them either.

Are these the Alden Indy with plain toe? Forsan said they were a modified last...where do you get them with a modified last? I thought all Indy's use the same last.

I just hope they're slightly more pointy than Doc Marten's or Red Wings. I want them to be rugged and not out of place in expensive hotels at the same time. I'm not a businessman, but I'm in businessman areas all the time here in Singapore. Not sure how Indys in general will hold up here.

Also, the sole on these isn't the same as the normal Indy Natural CXL right? How do you like the sole compared to the standard Indy sole?

Seven, how did you know that I live in Minnesnowta? I believe Leffot offered a cigar Indy awhile back. Ultimately a tru-balance shell Indy in either cigar or Ravello on commando soles would look nice as I freeze like a Popsicle. Brown chromexcel is very good looking though.

I personally find it easier to wear calf or cxl in inclement weather than shell. But that's just me.

When you find the aforesaid cigar or ravello Indy in stock, let me know. :D

Thanks for the posts, gents. As mentioned, these are just the plain toe natural CXL boot from The Shoe Mart on the Modified last. To answer your question, doopdoop, they are, in my opinion, a good blend of casual and business casual dress. Not dressy by any means, but not as rugged as the Indy (I'm personally not a fan of the topstitching).

These were just worn really well for the past year and treated with a little Reno here and there and mostly Obenauf's LP when needed. This photo was taken the day after a first coat of Venetian.

    J. crew TSM seconds back from a month and a half long restoration. $160. The nice folks in Middleborough sure had a long summer break...

AFTER: W/ Civilianaire Super Slim Black 2X1 RH twill 13.5oz raw, marcoliani wool socks OTC (what, me summer?)

My concern with renovation is always that the color that I've worked so hard for will be masked by wax polish. Luckily this was not the case. Galway eat your heart out, mi'right?

Follow up on my king chukkas from LSBH. Renovateur/Mac method only, never waxed, except when restored by Alden several months ago.

I love how dynamic color 8 is. If you wait long enough, and strip it with renovateur, you can see strokes of pigment. I'm not sure if this is the hands at Horween or the finishing at Alden. Likely the former. Maybe someone with Ruby carmina's can offer some insight.

There's so much shell to worship on the king chukka; it's the working man's wholecut, and these have rolled and mellowed kindly.

Thanks, guys! This office lighting does nothing for the shine I've been working on for these. I'm no Uncle Mac, but they look pretty good.
