    I have a problem...

The #8 (King) PTBs I just bought from TSM....well, they look so great I don't think I can wear them.

I suppose I'll get over it, but does anyone else ever have this problem?

I sent my Brooks Brothers shell LHS pennies to Alden for re-crafting last week. Any feedback on how long this is taking these days? I already miss these guys.

I've experienced that sentiment, but it has never prevented me from wearing them.

Ease in to it by wearing them around the house a few times before taking them for their "Maiden Voyage" "In The Wild".

    tampatravel, that's not a problem, it's a fixation.

Absolutely, all the time. Then I see a picture on this site of someone wearing them (or something similar) and I take the risk.

My friend, I agree with most of what you said. My only issue is with your assertion/assumption that people buy shell because "it will go the extra mile." I don't think people necessarily buy shell for its stronger more durable quality (at the very least I don't). Good year welted shoes calf or shell can last a very long time when cared for properly. As I said earlier, the way in which it creases and develops its own characteristic patina plays a large role for me. In any case, one does have to wonder why some of the best shoe makers in the world (J.Lobb, E. Green, etc...) produce so little of it, or none at all.

Keep that pair for your "unworn" collection and buy another for use in your rotation. problem solved.

They look more like ravello... does the lighting make them look lighter? In any case, fabulous looking shoes my fellow Star Wars fanatical friend! [IMG]

Thanks Fellas! They're lighter than other cigars I've seen, and warmer in tone. Not having seen Ravello in person, I imagine they're in between a Ravello and Cigar. I got these from AoC a year ago this month. Hey, Happy B-day!

Thanks for the welcome. I had a question for you guys. I wanted to buy the alden cedar shoe trees for my boots. Would they fit properly or would they deform the toes at all?

Welcome Basilios! Nice Indys! Shoe trees are a must-have. The Alden shoe trees are good (I use them with my 403s), but I think most of the common combo cedar trees will do fine … AE, woodlore, etc. Just be sure to use them religiously.

    Rich patina on those Nattys!

Don, I'm a huge fan of the antique #8. Those babies are a work of art.
