1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Just received the email too and was about to post!

My first pair of Alden's were from their Calgary store. Very nice and accommodating salesmen. They worked with me for a while until we got the right size and width. Ultimately we found the right size but they didnt have color in stock so they called up the Alden factory and had it shipped to my home address. Great service.

As much as we all love the 975, this may be the top Alden color 8 blucher available...

Ah yes I am confusing the two. :embar: My mistake but my statement about O'Conners service still holds true!

Good thing they only have an 8D in the 975 or my wallet would have been pissed at me.

This is difficult, but today I'd probably rank the stock #8 blucher shoes in this way:

    1. 990 ptb
    2. 2210 nst
    3. 994 saddle (EDIT: Bakes11771 correctly pointed out that the 994 is a balmoral and not a blucher. I will leave it in my list as an honorary blucher, much like "bacon is an honorary vegetable" -- Tyler Florence.)
    4. 975 lwb
    5. 2160 ctb
    6. 2145 medallion ctb

The only ranking I'm unwavering about is the 990 ptb as #1. Also, I do like ctbs, but I just happen to like the other styles more, and ctb boots more than ctb shoes.

^ 994 (monochromatic saddle, 270 flat welt, Barrie last) is severely underrated. I've seen SFTG's pics of this model and they are outstanding. The sleekest Barrie lasted shoe available, and 100% appropriate for all business attire. After the 2210, my next acquisition for sure...

+1, on my list too, and also influenced by SFTG. :)

Sadly, I have to respectfully disagree... (my line-up)
    1. 975
    2. 2145
    3. 2210
    4. 990

That's fair enough RTP. I'm not exactly surprised you have the 975 as #1.
