    Gladly, here goes.....

What this effort has shown me is that I now need to work on the welt. Other than that, I am quite pleased with how these have turned out (so far).

Nice. I am visiting San Francisco this weekend. I plan on stopping by Alden SF and Unionmade.

I'm not the authority on the subject, but shell should be able to be buffed back to a high shine with no polish, even after a few years of wear. This is because of the natural waxes and oils in the leather. The thing that causes a shine is a smooth surface, so if you can bring out the oils on the surface, and make them smooth and even with buffing and brushing, you should not need polish. I don't think wax once a year is a bad thing, just not necessary to get a good shine.
They look great, good job! You will only get better with practice.

Those look like Unlined Brooks Brothers LHS with natural welt and sole? What is the story behind them?

Bakes11771 - I wish I knew. I picked these up used off of ebay before I had any clue what shell cordovan meant. I fell in love with them because I like the versatility of cordovan and I had never seen shoes with a natural welt (I didn't even know what a welt was). I just knew I liked the look and that Alden was a pretty high-end shoe. So, I don't know the history but your assumption is correct, they are the LHS BB unlined. BTW, thanks again for the advice on the method of care. They are coming along nicely.

Thanks for the words mcarthur. I followed your you tube clip and will continue to use it as I try to get these to pop.

I recently returned a pair of Flex-Toe Suede Chukkas to J. Crew which I had purchased 0.5 size down from TTS because they were too small.

This after having moved on from a pair of calf LWB that I'd purchased TTS which I felt were too big. So I'm stuck trying to work out the Barrie boot versus Barrie shoe size as well.

Now I'm trying to decide between the cordovan cap-toe boot TTS, or the Indy (Trubalance) in 0.5 size down.

I just wish they had the LWB in shell in my size (0.5 down). I'd be satisfied if they had it on back order.

Are you positive the chukka was on the Barrie? Often they are on the Leydon

Sizing is just about the same IMO.
