    For any threads that are hanging (not necessarily loose stitches though), you can take a cigarette lighter and melt them by quickly touching the flame to them. Sounds scary, yes, but it works and sorta seals the thread.

    I learned this from the Alden San Fran salesguys and have done this with a couple of my pairs of Aldens and have been happy with the results. Again, this is only for hanging threads.

    Not yet uncle, but I hope to pretty soon. Cap toes, tassels and PTBs competing for mindspace.

    Thank you for the kind words, Uncle. I'm working on developing the confidence to wear the tassels. It helps knowing just how classic Alden tassels are.

    Man I feel you. But to be honest, this is minor when it comes to Alden QC. You got a good pair.

    Unless the boots start falling apart that doesn't look like anything to punch someone over. These boots are made by human beings. They will never be 100% perfect.

    i've definitely had damaged aldens come from leather soul and they definitely went above and beyond to rectify the problem so this is a bit surprising.

    I have done this many times. Don't be afraid of it. It is perfectly safe, and it's what they do in the factory as well.
