Those are fantastic. Medium brown paste wax or natural sunlight exposure?

I know that this is an Alden thread, but I'm gauging interest on how many people would want a "Thor Boot" made in Ruby Shell Cordovan by Carmina.

I am sending them a Barrie lasted boot to recreate. The boot will have the toe box and width of an Alden Barrie, but the quality of a Carmina.

I own 15 Alden Shell Boots/Shoes, so do not think that I some Carmina guy poaching. I'm sick of the cordovan shortage and the quality control over at a certain Massachussetts based company.

All Boots will be made in Horween Shell with a leather Sole. Was thinking about possibly Dainite, but leather would be my first choice.

    The shell is Ruby colored.

I always felt that Carmina Boots were too European. Too narrow, too sleek in the toe, too high in the upper and I never liked the eyelets. They were just too formal. I am going to send them two pairs of my boots and these will be the perfect boot that every Slden fan has been waiting for. I am not going to be profiting from this. All payments will be made directly through Carmina.

I am simply going to make sure that the boot is made like the boots we love. As I said, A-----n samples will be shipped to Spain. I just figured that they're not going to make continuous runs of this boot and I am just gauging interest.

I did a similar thing with Viberg in Whiskey Cordovan and they turned out amazing.

I've been talking with some guys on this board who I respect to make sure that we get the style right. I have also been talking with Carmina. If a certain number of you show interest and are willing to eventually pay 50% deposit, I'll have Carmina save the shells for us.

Was going to just do this for 4 guys, but figured why not share the wealth.

Thinking a cross between these boots. All are Alden except the last one which is a Julian Boot.

My goal is a boot that looks like an Alden Thor with a touch of the last boot pictured (black cordovan Julian Boot). Below are the two colors that I was thinking of. Neither of these are indicative of the style. I want the Thor Boot in Ruby, but am open to any and all insight recommendations. Order will be finalized in the next 8-10 days.

This is one shot of the Viberg boot which I had made. It is not for sale or available, but is an example of my last project. This project was to look like a Viberg, so please do not accept a Viberg looking boot from this Carmina adventure.

What did you do?!?!?! As a NatCXL fan, I'm not sure how I feel about this, but all power to you -
Having bought my first pair of Carminas this week, I agree with your "anti" sentiment here. Sounds like a cool project.

    GCB,

Cognac shell I am in and Ruby I am out. Carmina ruby is too red for my tastes

GCB, I would be in for either ruby or cognac, but cognac with light antique edgetrim and leather cordovan pull tab would be my preference. Stellar.

Also, KUDOS to GCB for a creative and proactive idea.

    Ok,

They have other tones too. I'm totally open to doing it in Cognac.

I think I agree that cognac would be more versatile.

Alden has the exclusive rights to certain colors, but that being said, if this could be done in any color, which color would those interested choose?

I'll go with the general consensus. It's more the style a d Carmina's flexibility which make this so cool.

I spoke with them about how their last were too formal and pointed and they literally asked me to send them a boot(a) and they'd create that last.

They have a ton of Horween shell. Why not have them meet demand. I'm hoping that going directly through Carmina will lower the price compared to what retailers, who buy wholesale from Carmina, have to make.

If we all knew for a fact, that our grail shoes could be made without a two year wait and with Carmina's incredibly craftsmanship; I feel firmly that this frustrated thread might take a more satisfied direction.

My preference would be analogous to Ravello, so something that sits in between Carmina's saddle and cognac Horween shell.

I'm going to take down numbers and lock this down over the next 2-3 days. I'm hoping that people will be so delighted with round one that we can do this as many times as we need in order for everybody to get what they want. I'm sick of being told to accept scratches, creasing, crazy pricing, year long waits. I know for a fact that the shell drought is not as bad as we think and, if one shoe company wants to pull a DeBeers where they drive demand and dictate prices, we should be able to have another option. I'm sure people will be hesitant to purchase a non- Alden shoe/boot, but I know Carmina delivers and, if you don't want Carmina boots; hopefully we'll wake up Alden and get them back to making what they used to make.

I'd definitely be interested for a cigar thor'ish boot if Carmina could produce. my wallet might not agree though [IMG]
