1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Thank you guys. I agree with the sentiment. Alden boots are very special and most of my collection is made up of boots (mix of Trubalance and Barrie) at this point. Setting aside the usual benefits of look, comfort and support, Alden boots obviate any issues around the Barrie last heel fit for me. I am in the group of folks with a really wide forefoot and skinny heels and ankles.

Why should it be a private club?

I think he means that other shops it is word of mouth on new pre-orders or you have to be on a list

They are not particularly hard to come by I don't think. A couple retailers have them at the moment. J Gilbert, Alden NYC and SanFran I believe. My experience with Trubalance is to size 1/2 down. They fit me nicely. I don't think you'll have much luck getting a discount.

Anyone know why some sizes would be 'sold out' if it's a pre-order?

Ryden, Since your Ravello doesn't match, I think you should sell the LWB to me. I think it would make your collection look more cohesive...LOL

I believe they only order a certain amount in each size. If I am not mistaken. I would try to call and see if you can get in.

My guess is that we are buying against a confirmed order. Leffot orders a run of sizes, Alden confirms it, then Leffot opens it up for orders.

That sounds even more right. Isn't Leffot one of the few that only opens up pre-orders when they have a confirmed order?

I think Leffots places an order and Alden confirms how many pairs they may make of the style. Leffots then breaks it down into sizes to offer. Therefore, the allotment is a finite number.

EDIT: Or they place an order with a certain number of sizes. Alden then probably counters with what they may actually produce, which is what Leffots then presells.

I'm not sure that's the case. For instance, the Day Tripper boots have been pre-ordered (as in the pre-order is closed), but Alden has not confirmed the order.

I guess I should have started that statement with "For the most part..."

^ Maybe the nicest non-shell Indy I've ever seen. Frans Boone's models kill it.
