The cadets are back up on J Crew.... same price...

I've changed my mind about this model ... the proportions are off to me.
I think that it's got to do with the welting ... Barrie-lasted shoes look unbalanced without the storm welt.

Picked up a pair of Alden/Brooks Brothers ShellCordovan LWB #8 in size 13E off eBay, low mileage. Let's see if these do run a little big and I can wear them without socks? Crossing my fingers this works!

See Ya,
Steve

Finally got my Alden NST Whiskey Shell on Barrie last...back today from TSM. They sent them to Alden to get a flaw fixed where the heel met the sole and last. Great job, looks awesome, fast turn around and now I have officially become a member of the fine Whiskey club!

See Ya,

Did anyone else see this:

Not too many sizes left but for example wingtips have US9 left. Some other good offers too so you better check through the whole sale section.

Everything seems to show american sizing but they all indicate width E, is that just a problem with their conversion?

What is the best polish for Whiskey Shell?

I know that everybody seems to live Saphir products, but my experience is that , other than Renovateur, their cordovan line doesn't seem to work well with Alden shell because of the additional treatment that Alden goes through in addition to what Horween has already done. Less finished cordovan seems to react better to the Saphir line of cordovan products.

I tried the Slden paste for my #8 and black, but am afraid to touch Whiskey or Ravello with anything other than Reno and a brush?

Who color of shell is the brown color of paste made for? They have their own #8 past so I'm assuming it's for Cigar.

Alden paste wax:
Tan - whiskey
Brown - ravello; cigar
color 8 - color 8
black - black

If they have no storm welt and a 270 welt, they look much sleeker than a model with a storm welt and a 360 welt.

I personally disagree that they look unbalanced.

I know a few weeks back we were discussing alternative brands of cordovan... Here is some stock navy cordovan from Edward Green that'll run you $1,560. I'm guessing MTO runs $1,800 or more now.
