1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Thinking about picking up the Rough Roy's from context. Do these age well? Sometimes I think rough out boots looking pretty good with age, other times they look pretty beat for the amount of wear.

Any pics of worn in rough outs?

Care for NatCXL the same way you would shell. Little to no product, frequent brushing, and always tree them.

Hello All: I recently purchased from Unionmade a pair of Alden Muir Indy Boot in Walnut Calfskin 40541HC. What is the opinion on the proper care for calfskin? Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thank you!!

    Those look outstanding!!

I really like the metal toe detail.

I've considered doing that, but it turns out I rarely have much wear on my toes - I'm a strange walker apparently.

Thank you, very excited with the color of these! And Nick did great work with the plates

...I need to edit the original post, I actually got them at Citishoes in NYC. Great shop, they even throw in the shoe trees!

Very nice! Congrats. I have been thinking about toe plates, too. If your gait tends to make your toes wear faster does that mean that the metal toe taps will click when you walk????

I've heard they don't make a noticeable click, but this is the first pair on which I've had them installed. I'll let the much more knowledgeable members respond. I plan to use the Mac Method to break them in so I may not find out for a few days!

I am going to try the mac break in method for the first time on my Cigar PTB. I will see of that makes a difference once I wear them in the real world. Then I'll see if I still want to do the taps.

Care for Natural CXL is going to really depend on how you wear your boots. If you wear them as dress boots (as many here do) they require little to no care, and can stop reading.

If you wear them as *actual* boots (as I do with my Indy's) where they are going into mud, streams, sand, snow, etc. you may want to give them occasional oilings (I use Lexol Conditioner) every few months (3-6, unless you have a specific incident like walking through oily flood waters, like I've done in my Beans) and possibly a wax waterproofing treatment (I use Obenauf's LP) once a year or so. Again, that depends on how you beat them up, and how heavy duty an oil/conditioner you're using. These *will* darken your boots, so again, if you are wearing your boots as dress boots, disregard. Go over to the Wolverine 1000 mile thread to see recommendations on how to treat CXL boots that are worn as boots.

Bick 4 works well to keep CXL hydrated without darkening the leather. No need to do it too often unless you're really beating up the leather as others have suggested.
