I like it; the mocc toe stitching subdues the pointier shape of the Plaza last. Not sure if the intention was to make a dressier Indy boot, or a more casual boot on the Plaza last, but I think it achieves the latter more than it does the former. I also prefer the regular welt to the reverse welt featured on most incarnation of the Indy boots.

How does the colour of the burnished tan calf compare to the vegano tan calf? Based on those photos, the burnished tan calf looks like the same shade as the ravello chukkas(!)

I'm not sure about these tbh Tom... Maybe because they look too similar to Tanker boots?

Tom, i am not particular in love with the plaza last on those Indy's to be honest.
there are so many other shoes that the plaza last really suits. but it might work for those who really need those who prefer plaza.

i felt the same way at Moulded Shoes a few months back when purchasing a pair of Indy's.
i tried on his Modified Last Indy's, and even thought i liked the fit the modified last very much, i did not like the way that last and style combination looked on me, especial with the exaggerated mock stitching bend from the last shape.

    Very good, Ahab!
I also wear the same size (in the same last) regardless of the leather, style, etc.
Order, try, keep or return - no worries, no madness.

Not so feasible for people living outside the States ordering their shoes from up-scale retailers for around and sometimes higher than 50 Dollars. And if they do not fit properly, they cost around 25 dollars to ship back. Besides I do not know whether they charge for the shipment on the exchange pair for the same price.

They are simply gorgeous IMO. At least one may consider buying Tru-balance lasted Indy boots for a clunkier look and a pair of these in a different color. After seeing these I wish I had not bought too many Indy boots.

Nice but very familiar looking. Looks like Tankers sans split toe.

Anything with a Commando heel just looks clunky no matter what type of last, IMO.

    Thanks for the comments guys!

I think it looks good. Just maybe gotta think of it as a Plaza moc toe boot...not a Plaza Indy boot.

Been selling good today so it looks like it's gonna be back...also in chromexcel for Robin. [IMG]

    Gentleman,

I need your opinion regarding a pair of new Alden 12.5E Ravello (Shell) longwings that I can buy for $400. I know - great price - sorry I can't say who is selling them....

I normally wear 12EE in Alden shell longwings.

Do you guys think that the 12.5 E may be too big for someone who normally wears 12EEs.

    I worried about width.

The fact that its ravello and only $400 - its too tempting.

    Thanks,

    Tom,

Thanks for your fast reply regarding the 12.5E ravello longwings.

By the way, please start your pre-order list again...I'm still waiting for a shoe that tickles my interest.

    Thanks again,

Well, the cost of doing business, you know. If you can't physically get there then you have to absorb some risk. It's usually pretty easy to find out if they'll do an exchange by asking them.

Sooner or later you'll know what size you wear and then high shipping exchange costs will be absorbed overtime as you buy more and more pairs....[IMG]

Hey guys. I'm having an issue regarding my cap toe boot. I've noticed that these shoes tend to rock back and forth, is that normal? Also, I think the shank is loose in the right shoe. Can someone help confirm this? When i walk I feel a bump in the middle of the shoe and its a lot more noticeable when I stand flat on my heels. Anyone else have this issue?

I got my J. Crew Longwings in the mail today. They fit great, but the back of the heel shuffles a bit when walking. Any suggestion for a fix, fellas? Thanks.

It has happened to me before (not with Aldens) and I took them to a cobbler who checked them out and ended up hammering in the nails in the heel (for free) and that fixed it.
