1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

May I ask for more detail on your Ravello LWB's? They appear to have the same medallion pattern found on the LWB boot and medallion cap toes. I prefer that pattern. Do they have regular or water lock soles and where did they come from?

    Thanks.

As I look closer at Mac's pictures, I am guessing those ravellos are SWB and not LWB. Still would like to know more. Thanks.

They're ravello shortwings that Leather Soul did a while back. I'm not sure how they were allocated, but I think only a select few got a crack at them. If they're ever made up again, the odds of scoring a pair are not high.

Thinking about clearing out excess "casual" shoes...

    Keep two of three:
Leffot color 8 / grain saddles vs cigar NST vs Leffot antique longwings

    Keep two of three:
Black unlined PTB, black tanker boots and black NSTs

Alcibiades, I would say keep the saddles and the cigar nst's, also the unlined ptb's and the black tanker boots. I wish I had such problems.

Was in Frye Boots in Georgetown yesterday and saw that they are doing shell cordovan. I have literally never seen a shine on cordovan like this; looks almost plasticky with how shiny it is. If you are looking for a pair of Mac'd shoes without the effort, these are your boots. Build quality did not appear to be up to Alden standard, but still ok.

Do Aldens run long? I sized down a half size as I understand you should. Width is good, but they are a bit longer than my other shoes. Judging by some of the pics here too they look long.

Frye has lower build quality, higher price and believe it or not worse customer service than Alden

I have two Modified last boots, as well as other boots on the Barrie and a chukka on the Leydon. From my limited experience with Alden lasts, the Modified is my favorite, as far as fit is concerned. The pictures of the Plaza last are very appealing, looks wise. I think boots on the Modified last look okay/good but the pictures I've seen of shoes on the Modified last are not very appealing, to me at least.

I have the natural CXL Indy boots on the Modified last and love them in all ways but two --- they are incredibly heavy (mostly due to the neo/cork sole) and the storm welt makes them quite bulky, dare I say clunky. Having said that, I love the fit and next to shell, CXL is my favorite for casual wear. Whether you prefer the looks of the Indy on the Trubalance last is totally personal. I've owned an Indy on the Trubalance but the heel was just too voluminous for me. Maybe I had the wrong size. Looks wise, I like the Trubalance as long as the boots have a close heel.

    Good luck in your quest.

apparently an influx of various models, ravello, whiskey and cigar.. seems larger sizes mainly. I grabbed cigar indy on commando and ravello nst. haven't seen any shipping confirmation yet, but the sales rep said it likely wouldn't happen until Tuesday.

not putting any confidence in my order.. if it arrives, awesome. if not, no loss
