1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

If you want a cream black in color, go with Saphir cordovan cream in black. For a black wax, use Alden.

If you want no color, go with Saphir Reno or VSC.

When do you decide to use VSC as opposed to Saphir/Alden products? I've never used VSC, but it seems like a product I should own...

I use VSC and have good results from it. I got a lifetime supply sized jar for like $15, so it's not a bad deal either.

Pair of Brand New Cigar Tassels (36630) just popped up on eBay for $250. Would have already bought them, but they are too big for me. Just a tip. 11D.

Is the VSC good for shell and does that even matter. Not being a SME, I kind of assumed that there was something different about cream for shell and that the stuff typically used for calfskin was actually harmful to shell.

They also sell Saphir Reno and Cordovan creme
    http://horween.bigcartel.com/

Both work well think VSC gives more of a shine

Thinking on pulling the trigger on the J Gilbert tan calfskin wingtip boots... Any recent fit pics (there were some I think a while back in the thread) or reviews? With the rare shell shortage this looks like a great substitute for a whiskey or ravello boot

Alcibiades! I truly love these boots! I got them from J. Gilbert about a year ago … worn probably once or twice a week since.

    Recent pics…

Awesome boots. If you could only keep one, which would it be?

Where'd you get the large size for $15 from?

Impressive collection MrDV. I'm curious which ones you would keep if you could only keep one as well. They all look like they were dipped in liquid glass but the antique welts get my vote.
