El Argentino, how does the Barrie LWB vs Barrie Boot fit for you? I've got a lower instep/flat foot and wonder how the Barrie boot would fit for me. Obviously in their shoe form, the Barrie's got a ridiculously low heel, barely grips on because its so damn wide too. The rest of the foot is fine. The Grant last in a boot form is fairly room though.

i have this same problem. i've all but given up on barrie lasted shoes. the only one i've found to like is the unlined ptb because it's so flexible. However, i can wear a barrie boot well enough, and a chukka too depending on the type of welt (some welts make the heel block even wider that throws off my stride).

stopped by j. gilbert on my lunch break. such a nice little shop. if they had my size in the tan suede chukka i would have picked them up. it's a nice makeup and i think i wouldn't mind the crepe sole.

for anyone who ordered the leydon suede ptb from NRO, any word on when they might come in?

EDIT: i was able to get NRO on the phone, and he said they're still in production, probably 4-6 weeks out. at least they answered the telephone!

    Barrie boots rock:

That said, I don't have a problem with Barrie shoes either. You have to sort of 'get' the Alden ethic.

Well I obviously have the "dgaf" attitude towards the last - in fact, my feet are usually in pain when wearing nearly all my Barrie shoes - it gets worse with my C&J's crazy narrow toeboxes. I've learned to tune out discomfort haha. THOUGH I LOVE, LOVE the Trublance last. Now that's comfort. I always hear about the Barrie sizing in boots to be different, thats why I ask. Tried on a pair of Natty CXL tankers about 3 years ago and don't remember what it was like... Nice video by the way, as usual!

Are you sure you have the right size? To me, Barries are very comfortable. If Trubalance is comfy for you but Barrie is not, maybe you need a wider Barrie size.

Just received my black shell LHSs from Alden on less them 4 weeks, although they initially told me 8 weeks... They did a rather nice job, albeit they weren't that beat up to begin with. However, they had some sort of pitting on the tops over the footbed which they seem to have corrected. I also received today a pair Allen Edwards Patriot shells in their version of a cigar shell... (I know, I know... Sacrilege ...although I do have AAD, I do come up for air once in a while) Looks like a pretty nice shoe, although I haven't road tested yet... Here's the side by side... With the restored LHS:

Yup - I gave the wider Barrie a try too (see my listing haha, went with the 8.5E too). But the heel and overall shoe becomes very big, especially volume-wise.

While I don't really mind the heel being wide and low, the toebox hurts since it tapers fairly quickly from the ball of the foot. The actual width at the ball is totally fine though, just crowds my pinky toes. :(

While I would love to see more Grant last as well, Barrie in 9.5E has fit me very well. They are pretty comfortable IMO.

I was on the fence about the suede chukka w/crepe sole but after wearing them around the house for a bit, I've really grown to like them. My only nitpick is that they are lined and I love the unlined version, which I have in Tan.

Just spent the last hour familiarizing myself with the #8 LWB that UPS just delivered. And now I already want to order an Indy boot. Not good when a guy with an addictive personality gets wrapped up in Alden. :p (but then again I wouldn't say I'm in the minority here).

Steven at Leffot says that his E sizes always sell out quickly, so there must be a bunch of them
