I was fortunate enough to find an Indy boot on the Barrie last , in cigar to boot. My favorite Alden purchase to date, until I find a pair of #4 cap toes.

I love that on this thread there are those who have the temerity to opine with civility and manners. It's almost quaint. As to the matter of which Alden is a good first choice, that is a question fraught with danger and peril. Many have spoken eloquently of balmorals and bluchers. I say if the shoes are for those odd occasions when your not wearing sneakers then buy anything in #8. If your beginning the journey with "Dorothy" and friends down the yellow brick road toward Oz to meet the wizard then blow as much scratch as you can and get whatever the hell suits your fancy. This is about shoes that were designed in the 19th century, but are still hand made in the 21st century. Conventions of propriety and decorum are not as important as they once were. Unless your actually in the 1%, and because there's only 1% I believe I'm pretty safe here, nobody really gives a rats ass. Show up and suit up. With a smile on your face and a shine on your shoes the world can be your oyster. Whether it's Ravello wingtips with a navy suit, or black monk straps with green chinos, its all good.

Get the unlined PTB from Alden of DC. Call Kathy, she'll hook you up.

Nice. I was thinking about those (Alden SF had them a few months back and may still), since I really like Barrie lasted boots (like my J Crew Cap Toes). But since I actually prefer calf for my Indy boots (really dig the original 405s), I decided against spending the money.

I've become a purist with regards to the Alden Work Boot. For me, the 405 is the one and only -

+1 on the vids mediahound. They introduced me to the "very rare" Ravello king of all gunboats.

The Indy in Trubalance may be Alden's widest shoe. My cigar Indy boots in 9.5E are the widest Aldens I own. My 10D whiskey and 405 Indy boots are a bit long but wide enough for me. I am traveling but I will post a comparison of my cigar Indy boots and color 8 tanker when I get back...

I am wearing thin socks with my tanker boots until they break in more, then I will move to thicker socks

Pretty OT but mediahound, we have freakishly similar interests. I had a Topre Realforce 86U... sold it and I'm using my Leopold Brown 10-keyless right now haha. I'm into the audio equipment too... :slayer:

Captoe blucher in color 8. There is an Alden for BB version on the Snap last. The stock model is 2160, and it is on the Aberdeen last. Both fit TTS.

You should have no problem finding the 2160 from The Shoemart or Alden SF.

Dunno to be honest they send emails
That photo is from whyyoumad Instagram I think, shoes are from pitti by blak fleece guy in NYC forget his name so it's C&J and black fleece from earlier seasons
I don't have an issue with that who is gonna look close enough to see?
A lwb is nice and I wore it to interviews in later rounds if I knew the interviewer or if it was a non profit If you are just starting out I'd get two pairs of Allen Edmonds, black captoe and a brown punch captoe or something similar. It's a lot cheaper and you can have money to spend on trees, saphir Reno, shoe brushes, beer, pizza etc. also easier if you scrape shoes or do something stupid in your new pair of nicer shoes. They have seconds sales like 2 for 200-250 check the Allen Edmonds thread. Stevesmith here also gets a lot of brooks brothers seconds for sale cheap Once you get a better feel you can sell the AEs (or keep black captoe I sold mine and kinda regret as I have no black captoe now) or use them as beaters. Ae fit wasn't good for me neither If you really are set on wingtip, then Ralph Lauren private sale starts in end of April. If you can wait, Marlow wingtip will be about $547 depending on your tax. Most versatile shoe I think as you can dress it up down easily and it's a clean dark brown. I'm 22 now and started maybe year and a half ago, maybe it's best to just go to dsw and get some flobby clunky shoes in all honesty!
Yeah want to sell my Indys all and get 10Es instead of 10.5d but then I remember my Indys were 220 and 330 new or something and it'd be too much for new ones

    Follow this thread:

One caution I have though is that sizes go very quickly and the discounts drop a certain percentage at a time (e.g., starts at 25%, then 30%, etc.) IIRC. So, by the time the Marlow goes around 40% (which will bring it to the low to mid $500 range), your size might already be long gone.

They are great shoes and a less casual alternative to my stable of LWBs.
