What is everyone's opinion on the snuff suede PTB built on the Leydon last (also available in tan suede), available only at NRO? I'm looking for a versatile and timeless shoe that can be worn spring-fall (maybe winter), and with everything from jeans to chinos.

Seems like the first shoes ship out March 2013 -- wonder if it's already in the store/in stock.

How does the Barrie last shell chukka size compared to a Barrie LWB?

I know the LWB tend to run big, ie., they feel larger than barrie lasted boots for example.

Is this also the case with the chukka or does a barrie lasted chukka size about the same as a barrie lasted boot?

How about the barrie PTB? Same fit as a LWB, or different?

I have found PTBs and Chukkas to fit closer to LWB than high boots in Barrie... Barrie high boots are the exception here

Thanks. So barrie boots fit smaller than all other barrie Aldens it sounds like.

What's the consensus on extra holes and choppy welts? Par for the course?

I've returned two pair that had the extra holes (and another that had a 1 inch puncture all the way through the vamp). I honestly can't understand how Alden ships these out.

It's really amazing that we've gotten to the point where the exotic shell colors can't be advertised on line. This game is getting crazy.

I was so tempted by the Bureau's #8PTB with the light edge trim - until I realized the price was in Pounds Sterling and not €. Steep!

People have varying tolerances for defects. I once received a pair of 975s also with a 1/2 inch crease/line right down the top of the shoe. Also notice the irregular dye on the tongue.

Some probably would not even notice it or wouldn't care but I did and returned them.

Interesting - I've had so many run ins with bad quality I'm surprised I still like em. :embar: @medihound - I just realized you're 'phototristan' on YT. Nice to see you here.

At this point it's probably some sort of masochistic fetish.

In case no one answered, some think that it grips better on wet surfaces. Cons include the section at the toe getting wet and being affected negatively, and I think that overall these soles make the shoe too heavy.
