Hey guys, the heel is popped off of my Alden 403s (only 3 weeks old). Should I just bring these to my local cobbler or send them to Alden? Is there anything different about the Indy Boot that would require Alden to fix?

Just wanted to repeat this today:

What products does everyone recommended for the shell cordovan boots? Anything particular besides generic cordovan polish?

A horsehair brush and a damp cloth is all you need most of the time.

Occasional Venetian Shoe Cream for me works well, with light coat of wax polish maybe once a year.

Appreciate this quick tutorial. Just signed up for an account (admittedly for work shirts, but wanted to reference this here).

I'm over the moon today. Dear wife and I are buying a house and our offer was accepted without too much bs from the sellers. It's a sunny enough day for shell, so I decided to break in the cigar lwbs that came Monday from Adam at AofC. I was neurotically worried about sizing given some of the recent discussions about intra-last variability on length and width (and given my odyssey with the cigar lhs's that I ended up with after the mismatched whiskey lhs's i tried to buy). The cigar discussions have been so fun I decided--perhaps against better judgment--to skip the gradual carpet break-in phase (Mac forgive me) and wore them to take my son to school this morning.

To top it all off, USPS delivered the LS Alpine Grain WT Boots today. I blame Sazon, who talked me into ordering them after I begged the forum for reasons not to pull the trigger. Not one of you helped a fellow addict. [IMG]

The boots are totally comfy, maybe slightly more than my lwb's. My first boot on the Barrie. It feels comfy, perhaps because there are more eyelets that allows for more customizing of tightness across top of the foot. My crappy iphone pics don't do the texture justice. In person, the texture is fun, but not too in-your-face.

Every addict needs a hobby, like needlepoint or tiddlywinks. I've decided to apply for enrollment in the Argentino School of Alden Photography; I'm hoping it keeps my credit card out of the shoppes. The admissions department has me on a conditional acceptance/academic probation, pending the improvement of my portfolio.

Don, you're killing me, reminding me about the whiskey lwbs I passed on when Steel was selling them. Special salt in the wound after hearing about the shell shortage Alden is talking about. Beautiful shoes!

I busted out the suede lwbs this past weekend when it finally hit 60 degrees in the northeast. Love the blue suede!

All of this high-filter photography is great to scroll through. Please note, alums, that there is still the time and place for massive, high-res, dslr shots as well. But otherwise, carry on. DocAlden, I'll run your file by the guys in the admissions office w/ a letter of recommendation.
These are beautiful. Great pant combo, good cuff, nice angles on the boots.

The 3 sessions for one hour on carpet process is no doubt a good idea. But truth be told, I surmise that many (perhaps most?) don't adhere to it. Sometimes life gets in the way. Consider yourself forgiven.

    Dear Dean El Argentino,

I'm humbled by the admissions offer and proudly accept. If I recall correctly, the registrar's office offered as an incentive one free pair of Color 4 shell, grant lasted cap toe boots, size 9D upon their receipt of my dslr submission. When you receive said dslr work, please forward the boots by next day air to the office address I have sent you via PM.

I am also awaiting the El Argentino School of Alden Photography rear windshield sticker for my car. [IMG]

    Very truly yours,
    Doc
