I'm now convinced that I prefer the 405s over the 403s/Jcrew 405s. These just look more unique and classic to me. Maybe because I see 403s so much these days.

    Can anyone translate?:

wanted to give a comparison between brown and natural cxl for those that might be on the fence between the two. the brown i received today from the shoe mart, the natrual i've had sine the beginning of the year from pelle line.

had i seen both in person before buying, i would have picked the brown i'm 85% sure, the color is much richer and the pull-up is more prominent. i was hoping i would hate them so i'd send them back and save myself $500. however, i'm leaning towards keeping them. not that i dislike the natural, i really enjoy it. but the brown looks great.

and to confirm, the browns from the shoe mart feature the double waterloc sole. also shout out to the shoe mart, they threw in a really nice leather wrapped shoe horn.

Thanks so much for posting this! I was on the fence this week about going with a pair of these or #8 chukka with commando sole. Given that I just got the Ravello chukka I decided to go with the brown CXL. I am hoping they arrive tomorrow. They may overlap somewhat with my brown CXL Indy's but we will see

I had a shoe manufacturer tell me recently that a solid toe shoe tree to preferable to a split toe for cordovan. I know all Alden trees are split toe. I am curious if anyone else has heard this? Furthermore which shoe trees do you guys use? I need to buy a few pairs.

Was this the run that came out around October 2011? Or has there been a more recent one?
