1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

solid construction too. the cost of the shell alone is couple hundred bucks. it also looks lighter than whiskey shell, almost like "natural" shell which looks milky white

+1. I'd be all over those in a second if they fit.

Thankk. That notion does indeed deserve some serious consideration.

So kind of you to say so.

Here is an idea, if they decline the project. Make them in to a lamp. Get a piece of wood, stain it. Nail or screw the shoes to it. Get a lamp rod and put it between the shoes (or through the heel of just one shoe if you want a smaller lamp) and get lamp hardware from any hardware store. Then get a shade for it.

It would preserve the sentimental value, display the character, and be a cool piece of decor for a shoe fanatic.

I am hopeful that these image confirms why i have to go up a width from truebalance to barrie due to tightness in the toes.

    I noticed Bakes. [IMG]

At some point I will acquire either this shoe or the straight tip bal (minus the perf). Did you consider both of these also? If so, what did it for you?

    Repp,

I am having the same debate right now. I like how these are simple, but have a little flare...

I thought the same thing. Unfortunately a smidge too small. I wear 9.5D barrie and I'm guessing this boot would be a little too snug.

To be honest, I actually like your duckie brown (cognac??) shell boots even more. If they were 10D I'd be all over them. Any reason you're letting those go?

I can only speak from experience between Barrie LWB 8.5D and 8E PTB shoes, but the

8.5D LWB is ...... longer, with the forefoot position more forward, and is snugger in heel compared to the 8E PTB

(you don't notice the roomier heel of the 8E Barrie in 6 eyelet Boots (a perfect fit for me) - I have not tried 8.5D Barrie Boots to compare with the 8E Boots.

At some point I will probably acquire the 9070 and 9071 Straight tips as well, assuming I will again wear a suit daily. I have a pair of J&M Black Straight Tip Bals that I got when I was a teenager and have only worn a few times, so I guess I wanted to add some variety. Also, I was just really feeling the Perf when I bought the 9015 and 9016. I think it was the Thor Boot that first attracted me to perf tips. I don't really like a lot of brogueing, I have very plain/simple taste, and as Mike says below, these are simple but with a little flare. After growing so fond of the Hampton shape for balmorals, it is difficult not to find the Straight Tip cousins attractive as well. Plus, I have the Cigar Straight 9073 Tip from Citishoes, so that has only brought me closer to the 9070/9071. (Keep it on the down-low, but TasselsHK in the past did a cigar perf tip that I am going to try to snipe if they ever restock.) That way I'll have Black, Color 8, Cigar Straight Tip, and Black, Color 8, Cigar Perf Tips. Gotta catch 'em all!
