Im really only down for some kind of boot. I can see why this might be difficult as everyone wants a very particular style.

Maybe the idea could be to set out a programme for the year, possibly with one order per quarter.
Say, 4 styles for the year, set out by whoever takes the lead on this project. I can see it working like this.

    - 4 styles
    - pre-orders open and close at scheduled dates for each style. If there aren't sufficient pre-orders, that's the end of that shoe, and we move on to the next.
    - full down payment on pre-order, strictly first-come, first-served.
    - a gentlemen's agreement that any shoes bought through this channel cannot be sold for a profit at a later stage (that would defeat the purpose imho)

This way, people who are interested could very well plan and budget accordingly.

At the same time, we should also be careful to limit the pre-order numbers, so as not to step on the toes of some of the more reputable and helpful retailers.

Anyone down for a MTO thing? Wed need 12+ people in it.

I'd be interested depending on the shoe/boot.

I would definitely be in for a plain toe boot in Cigar or Ravello...would be willing to wait quite a while.

...would also love long-wing boots in Cigar.

    Just sayin' [IMG]

    You need an Alden dealer.

That's the problem. Someone would have to live near a Alden store OR be prepared to ring them alot.

But four orders a year with a charter to indicate certain styles i.e two boots two oxfords a year kind of thing would probably be the best bet.

Question about the indys, and apologies if its been asked before:

I am trying to decide between the indy 403 and 405. horween seems to have a lot of info on the chromexcel leather in the 403 and it seems pretty cool, but haven't been able to find much on the leather used on the 405. Is it of the same quality, i.e. is it worth paying the same amount for the 405s as the 403s?

I highly doubt this will ever happen. The best bet is to work with one of the established sellers. If you do not ask for Whiskey, Cigar or Ravello I think most would work with you if you got 12 orders. But there are certain things that Alden will not do no matter who you are. I cannot remember if I have ever seen an Alden Long Wing boot for instance.

There certainly are Long Wing Boots if I am not mistaken- maybe I am unclear as to what a long wing boot is but aren't these LW Boots: http://www.alden-of-carmel.com/index...p_Boot_222.htm or these which I just got from ShoeMart: http://tinyurl.com/2d64524 Perhaps these are just "wing tips" as opposed to long wings which the perforated decoration goes all the way back...long...? I am really pretty opne to ANY boot- as long as its in cigar... Perhaps Leather Soul can do another SF boot??

No worries, you pretty much answered your own question in your first post.

I love both of those. I would get the Ravello if they did not have the speed hooks. I am trending away from speed hooks.

i agree with ahab if we want to do this we should contact tom from leather soul. if we have enough orders i am pretty sure tom will do it.
