Isn't that a vintage style boot?

I don't know the history of the NST, and it may very well hearken back to vintage styling. Either way, it doesn't scream old school to me the way indy 405's or 403's do. On those, I really like the look of the cat's paw. It just feels right.

The NST, esp. in cordovan, looks a bit dressy for cat's paw. That's obviously just my opinion, and anyway, I'm biased toward the original leather sole on those. On cordovan boots, I love the look of a smooth, worn, all leather sole, and the way the sole acquires it's own sort of patina.

That said, my tender arches have made me ever more willing to compromise for comfort. Cat's paw may very well be in my future as an alternative to leather on some of my boots.

Arrow, your boots would be awesome even if you had cardboard soles. Enjoy them.

Yea, I'm definitely going to be getting a lot of use out of these. Anyone know the proper care for this type? I emailed leather soul and they are going to ask Alden. LS said they didn't think brushing would be good for them since they are oiled. I'll post back when I hear from them.

I have a pair of vintage indies (which is the only reason I didn't get the pit boot) and after a number of months of wear I havent done anything at all to treat them and they hold up great. The reverse chamois is different than the nubuck, but I imagine they are pretty similar.

Well we could design a shoe wed all agree on, personally I want some variant of an Indy boot. Then you place the order with Alden, this part might get a bit complicated as they might require you to run a clothing business, but I could navigate that Im pretty confident. It takes about 6 months. Prices are much lower.
