1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

They look more like ravello... does the lighting make them look lighter? In any case, fabulous looking shoes my fellow Star Wars fanatical friend! [IMG]

Thanks Fellas! They're lighter than other cigars I've seen, and warmer in tone. Not having seen Ravello in person, I imagine they're in between a Ravello and Cigar. I got these from AoC a year ago this month. Hey, Happy B-day!

Thanks for the welcome. I had a question for you guys. I wanted to buy the alden cedar shoe trees for my boots. Would they fit properly or would they deform the toes at all?

Welcome Basilios! Nice Indys! Shoe trees are a must-have. The Alden shoe trees are good (I use them with my 403s), but I think most of the common combo cedar trees will do fine … AE, woodlore, etc. Just be sure to use them religiously.

    Rich patina on those Nattys!

Don, I'm a huge fan of the antique #8. Those babies are a work of art.

A friend has a vintage pair of kangaroo shoes that still look pretty good. They still have the original soles, though, so they haven't seen really heavy use. The only problem I've seen with them is that the leather gets nicked and cut pretty easily.

I have a pair of Bont quad roller skates made from kangaroo hide and they are really tough considering how thin and light the uppers are. They take a beating.

The mad scientist in me wants to make a pair of skates from some shell shoes. Some day...

I for one don't buy cordovan for its intrinsic toughness but rather for its beauty. I love a good calf shoe and they shine up very nicely but I think this site is reference enough to the beauty cordovan brings.

I use the Alden trees in my Plaza boots with no ill-effects. You are good-to-go!

Thinking of going there today to get my first pair of Alden's! Sounds like they have plenty of choices for 2nds to try on? I'm an 8.5D in C&J

How are their prices for firsts? Thanks

    I know, I know.

But think of it this way: Wear them, enjoy them, let them develop character. Should you ever need another pair, they'll be out there for you.

That's part of the beauty of the stock King makeups.

Their prices for firsts are list. Just like pretty much everywhere else for pretty much every Alden.

Enjoy the visit. I've never had the pleasure of visiting TSM in person.

I assume these are on the Aberdeen, correct?

Are tassels ever made on a different last? The Aberdeen (in a loafer) is just too tight for my wide toes and low instep.

#4 boots (I would call them cap toe, but don't mean to start any trouble)

The very rare and very sumptuous #4's. I love those boots.

Very nice DonL... I like the deep dark brown color of your cigar. My cigar LWB is very light, not that far off from my darkish ravello LWB. The sockless look with linen (I think?) pants is a solid summer staple. Wear in great health my friend!
