Ahh, excuse me. I think you are right that it is traditionally cowhide CXL unless otherwise mentioned.

cover stain with corn starch immediately. Then brush away lightly, after an overnight soak. Repeat as needed. Then, perhaps, wash your suede:

I recently acquired a pair of RL Marlow penny loafers via this thread, and I think I'll keep them. Do you guys think a pair of ravello or whiskey LHS would be too similar to the Marlows? The Marlows are full strap and closed heed/270 degree welt, whereas the LHS is non-full strap and 360 degree welt, but ultimately they are both pennies.

Nope. And get a pair in #8 while you're at it.
I bought a pair of pennys from that guy too.

the lhs in dark brown, whiskey and ravello are very similiar except they are different colors. if you can get either one or both, do it because you will have many years to enjoy wearing

never thought I'd be a fan of crepe, but these new LS natty tankers are feeling nice..

don't think I'd do crepe on a shoe, but does anyone have a suitable example that may catch my interest??

    1. Put on.

    2. Take pictures for internets.

    3. Take off, insert trees, take more pictures for internets.

    4. Repeat.

I think the pictures without creases must be from when they were new, since the first pictures do have creases.

Just so gorgeous a color! I am one of the very unfortunate and probably few on this thread that doesn't own any Ravello. I think I'm being picky in getting as close to my dream boot as I can and I may have to go to Anatomica to realize that dream but your awesome pics are just driving me forward that much more. Thanks for sharing, and congrats on your wonderful Ravellos!

Have never really been a loafer-guy, but I always feel inspired when I see your LHS. I thought the cigar was the best LHS shell option; not so sure anymore. The ravello looks wonderful (great shine)!

Just to clarify, Chromexcel is only tanned with large cow hides, otherwise the article would vary far too much. Shell is never tanned as a chrome excel, shell requires completely different tannage.

When I say horsehide CXL I don't mean shell, I mean horse front. I think they use that for CXL.
