1. I'd like to announce that animated avatars are now available again. You'll have to reload, but they are once more possible.

We've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes. The site load speed was already under 1/2 of what Huddler's was, on average, and we installed cloudflare, which means that the site should be even faster. A ton more will go on in the weeks and months to come, and some things will be more visibile, and some less.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

If you intend to Topy ... there is no added benefit to getting the JR premium soles

Color 8 Chukka, 1+ years old. I tried to do all the tricks for the water stains...not sure they've changed. [IMG]

I am on the lookout for a color 8/burgundy shell captoe bal (straight tip). Alden's is on the Hampton last, which is not my favorite. LS had one on the Plaza a year or two ago that I would buy immediately if it were available. The Carmina website lists this model only in black shell. And I know about the AE Park Avenue.

Any thoughts on where I might track one down?

Thanks guys, and have a good weekend.

I got these via a trade here on SF. They originally hail from Epaulet, 2012.

You can find a lot of info in the Wolverine 1000 mile boots thread. Horween and Oak Street Bootmakers recommend Venetian shoe cream, as needed, for moisture. I haven't delved too deeply into it just yet.

I have used both Saphir Reno and Venetian shoe cream on my natural CXL boots. Both worked well. CXL doesn't really need much care. There's so much oil in them that all that's probably needed is good brushing or maybe a damp cloth if they get dirty. Every so often, a treatment with Reno or VSC for moisture and conditioning and you're good to go.

I usually use venetian but I tried some Kiwi saddle soap for some cleaning this past weekend. Did a nice job. Nothing beats Saphir Reno, IMO. Just the smell is good enough for me.

Nick will tell you the same, that if you are going to get Topys there is no reason to get JR soles. You may want to get the JR heel though and do his regular leather soles with the Topy and metal toe plate.

FWIW, Reno and brushing is all I do to my CXL Indys (to ChakMak's question above^^^).

Just got these in from ebay. Although they are actually 10.5 E rather than 11 D as listed, they seem to fit. They are lined suede on a commando sole on the Barrie. Still not sure if I should keep them though as I am afraid that the suede will loosen up and they will end up being to wide. I hate to send them back as they are essentially new. My only other Barries are shell chukkas that are an 11 D. Any suggestions?
