I for one think LS is a great store and have always been treated exceptionally well. I think it's sad, people never fail to amaze me. LS decides to have a sale to move old inventory and people complain. These shoe companies must be ripping us off, they must make $500 profit off every pair of shoes, how can they sell them so low? These are Brick and Mortar stores they have to pay rent which by the way is incredibly expensive in Hawaii. If LS stopped ordering larger sizes to accommodate the few they wouldn't have to sell stagnate inventory at a loss. So I suggest they stop ordering larger size shoes since they are not selling. At least people can complain about that instead of thinking LS is ripping the customer. The last thing LS needs to do is post a comment to explain why they are having a sale. Leather Soul keep up the great work. I for one love shopping at your store don't change a thing.

Thanks, Tom. I think it's also easy to focus so closely on the dollars and cents that you lose sight of the less tangible benefits. I've always received superior customer service at LSW & LSBH. That should be worth something too.

I never said it was Leather Soul, so learn to read... it is Alden in general along with others, since all the dealers sell them for same price give or take a few dollars. It was nothing against Leather Soul, just to repeat myself. Retailers can get RedWing for $100.00 brand new 1st quality but they retail for $300.00 plus.

Yep - makes sense. Some will never understand economic realities. And I don't even get to benefit from the sale ....

Agatine eyelets make them decidedly less dressy, imo.

Perhaps LS could post on this forum the availability of discounted shoes/sizes and prices - it would hopefully save them many email replies. :D

Your comment juxtaposed against the LS sale seemed to be what steered you to your conclusion regarding Alden shoe mark ups. Probably because you wouldn't think that a retailer would sell product below cost.

The real question is what is Alden's total cost of goods sold? How much are they making a pair?

They are a Union factory, aren't they? So probably less than we would otherwise assume, but probably still a nice margin.

I'm not sure, but I'd imagine they are unionized. They're American made goods. They're going to be more expensive.

    ***Edit***

If you think this is bad, you should prices in Japan . . .

I too have had positive dealings.

If you wish to make a purchase, and availability is hanging in the balance, you must call. I have benefitted from this practice. :satisfied:
