Pitch Blend would darken the rest of the leather, not get the stain out

With continued wear, the colors will basically blend together. If it were cordovan, I would say it would be more of a negative issue, but with natural CXL, different coloration seems to be par for the course

Is it natural? or is it a stain that happened by accident?

it is "natural" in that they came like that, but it looks the factory dripped some sort of finishing on them by accident. it does look more like a stain, than a bloom...correct?

i don't mind natural discoloration, but this just looks human

is it common for Leffot to credit back pre-order money without an explanation? I received an email earlier saying they credited me back from the Natty CXL Indy preorder I jumped on last summer. kinda bummed, was looking forward to them.

This is hard - and it depends on your existing collection.

LWB - cigar or ravello (a virtual toss-up)

PTB - color 8 (and from BB if you can get it) - and, yes, I realize color 8 wasn't one of your listed options :D

    LHS - whiskey

If you're 11.5 Barrie, Shoe Mart had three pair of the J Crew #8 cap boot on the seconds shelf today...looked good. Also a beautiful chromexcel wingtip blucher, and a #8 plain toe on the Modified. Ask for Bob.

I'm the same way. If its natural variation, its acceptable. If its a QC issue, than its unacceptable.

Personally, if it were me, I'd send them back. Even if a replacement was not available.

The part that irks me the most is that it almost seems like they try to sneak this kind of thing past us. Like when you negotiate a price with someone and they hand you the cash and its short $10 and they are just trying to see if you will accept it for less. Then when you point it out, they have a $10 bill in their back pocket all by itself with no other money, making it obvious what they were trying to do.

Its like: "here, we'll send him the stained shoes, see if he accepts them. That way we can get rid of them. If he complains we'll just act like we didn't notice it and say that we are more than willing to refund his money".

(Not directing this specifically at any retailer, just a general statement. Also, I know that the retailer can send defective merchandise back to alden and recoup their money, so its not like the retailer is stuck with them either. Not sure why or how this stuff happens, but I'm also not the first to wonder about such things)

Probably some neats foot oil splashed on there. Same thing happened to my Natural CXL conservation boot (except I spilled the oil on it).
