1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I also finally got to try on a pair of Alden's on the Modified last. Absolutely perfect last for me. Sadly, the Brown Chromexel V-Tip I received is going back to Shoe Mart. The stitching job is just brutal to the point that it looks like I am wearing two different style of shoe.

I did not think I would be buying any more non-shell shoes but after trying the Modifieds I think Moulded Shoe will be getting some of my business.

    I just loled.

Uncle Mac, I have no idea where you live or your background, but I am imagining an aristocratic Boston Brahmin with a cup of 30 year old Scotch, leaning over and whispering to a young man, "Your shoes could use some mac luv."

Have a great weekend, Unc, and thank you for your jovial spirit.

Thanks uncle. I'll attend to the PTBs.

I don't recall ever seeing unlined PTB in an exotic color.

    Steve,

If you want them, just get your name on lists... Just requires some patience, thats all. I am on the list at TSM for Ravello LHSes...

I wish it was that simple...TSM I was told is not taking anymore lists, pre-orders, or pre-pays according to the winery Ed. He told me he has too many pre-pays already and changed his policy on taking pre-orders due to the backlogs that are out of control at Alden and his personal trip to Horween where he confirmed they have no shell. If anyone has advice on a dealer that I can get my name on a list for Cigar, Whiskey, or Ravello LHS please let me know. Alden DC is not getting any size 13 Ravello LWB this fall, and size 12.5 is already sold. I am supposed to get a pair of Ravello PTB this fall but outside of that nothing else. I have not found any places like Leather Soul, Epalet that order size 13. I'm open to any tips on places where I could be on pre-orders for MTO.

    See Ya,
    Steve

These look like CXL PTBs on flex welt:

Who the heck does this with shell?

I think it's intended to dispel the idea that shell is a delicate pain in the ass to maintain . Most of us here know better but it is a common misconception . Considering the present supply/demand ratio though it does seem a bit unnecessary

Both of those videos are pretty creepy imo. The first makes me think of buffalo bill from silence of the lambs.

The second one did make me laugh a little, but again creepy as hell.

I have a pair of alpine grain longwings and suede indy boots on the red brick sole and have to say that they are the most comfortable soles on any shoes that I have. I do agree that they are not for everybody and definitely ruin any pretense of formality for the shoes. I really like the look of the navy lwb but am not sure how I feel about the red sole this time around. I'm tempted to buy a pair and immediately switch the soles out.

It is the shoe as a whole. I saw a suede indy with redbrick sole at madison that I am considering buying. I am not opposed to the red brick entirely.
