In my experience, the plaza is a great last no matter what the makeup. And JGilbert is always quality makeups as well.

Also, FWIW, those JCrew plain-toes above look far more attractive than I would've initially thought. Bravo on your collection, Roguls.

Hey guys I would like to know are there any differences, in terms of fitting and feel when walking, between the ptb and chukka? Should I buy them in different size?
Let's say they are both shell and in barrie last.
    Your input is appreciated.

I have many of each. Both are good options.

Buy the same size for each model (since it is Barrie, go 1/2 size down from TTS).

The PTB will fit slightly more snug.

I have calf shoes, shell shoes, and shell boots on the Plaza last. I like said last.

JGilbert is great. Indeed, on Sunday I decided to pull the trigger on the color 8 plaintoe high boots on the Plaza (commando sole) - I got the last one in my size. This will complete my trifecta of color 8 high boots on the Plaza from JGilbert (NST, Wing Tip, Plaintoe) - I wanted a plaintoe with commando. I am now mulling over what to do with my color 8 chukkas (Barrie last, double leather sole) - keep or sell????

Avoid 1/2 down forum-logic if you have a wide-ish forefoot. Barrie is a voluminous last, but not that much so

    Thanks for compliments, gents.

The Barrie is more voluminous and longer than TTS. In some printed Alden literature, one will see a recommendation to go down one width only. This too can work; however, numerous Alden models/make-ups are only available in D width, so going from a D to a C is a practical impossibility. I have never heard (or even heard of) a retailer recommend(ing) going TTS for Barrie, but, hell, if it works, go for it.
