Agreed.  It could also be that he has so many pairs in the rotation that each shoe gets worn less than typical Alden owners. If Mac wears a pair of is shoes once every two weeks, it will have less wear than someone with a pair the same age that is worn twice a week.

Something tells me his rotation permits him to go far longer than 2 weeks between wears. :D

I don't disagree with anything you said. However, I submit that some, even after using the Mac method, will experience much more toe wear than Mac does.
I am that guy. I don't know what the Mac method is exactly, but I have an athletic gait, walking with a more pronounced toe off, and the tips of my shoes take beating. I must place taps on all of my shoes, in order to prevent the damage that excessive toe drag brings to beautiful shoes....lol.

^^ I have also noticed that improper sizing can cause issues as well. If the shoe is a bit too long (which can easily happen with the barrie last) it can create excessive dragging and excessive damage to the shoe tip.

HELP!! I've just had candle wax spilled on two pairs of Alden suede shoes. Does anybody know how I can remove it without damaging the suede?

I've read this in multiple places:

Excess can be scraped off with dull knife or spoon. Paper towels pressed on affected area and heat applied by blow dryer may lift wax into paper towel. Heat, however, tends to set dye in colored candles.

Anyways the lil' collection is complete, although I guess I'll always keep out a feeler for a #4... dream #4 shoo would be #4 plaza/grant (or modified for full unicorn) captoe commando sole blind eyelet buuuut not so likely

Gorgeous! I've never been drawn to shell Indys but these have changed my mind. Thanks for sharing and enjoy wearing.

The Dalton looks very nice. My J. Crew cap toe boots shined up tremendously well. they developed a mirror toe quite easily, but I eventually toned it down considerably to make them more versatile. Mirror toe looked great with business attire but not so great with casual attire.

AE's made such a significant change to their burgundy shell. I assume that's why they had such a big sale on all burgundy shell shoes early this year. I much prefer the "new" burgundy color (as shown in your Dalton) but the "old" color doesn't exactly look badly. I ended up buying the burgundy shell Leeds/PTB and Macneil longwing at a steep discount early in the year.

Nice boots! You are perfectly suited for fall, winter and spring :)

Thanks (and I actually wear some of my boots in the summer believe it or not). Your mirror shine is the best I have ever seen. I think it tops the guy at LS!

No, you are not alone. Far from it.

But people still swear by the comfort of the last.
