Very nice, I've been thinking about a Shell Chukka from Alden or AE, they both look amazing either way.

Hmmm...I would say it a bit different. Don't get anything in crepe sole if your intent is to wear it 100% of the time in formal/dressiest of settings. Alden's black crepe is fine for wool trousers/sportcoat, dress khakis/ navy blazer and below. May even be fine for more casual suits. Anything dressier than no for crepe.

J Crew has always honored orders like this in the past.

The standard advice for the Barrie last is to size down half a size.
What if the boots are made of Shell Cordovan? With its less stretchy and probably thicker nature would going for the same size (i.e. not -0.5) work?
    thanks in advance

Thinking of getting the snuff suede LWB from Jcrew... i have the boots and love them, is there a need for the LWB. I have no suede shoes... or should I by pass these and also return the Tobacco LWB and get a pair of Shell, say ravello or cigar... LWB or Boots?

We'll have to agree to disagree. For me personally, a crepe sole disqualifies a shoe/boot from formal and business casual. If others see if differently I have no problem with that.

I would not do that...in fact shell sometimes run larger than CXL counterparts. I've gone a full size down in some shell Barrie shoes/boots and been OK and gone a 1/2 size down on shell LWB that felt huge to me. Not sure if it is that way they are made or not, but I have found that sizing can vary between shell and non shell on the same last depending on the shoe/boot.

This has not been my experience. In fact I've found the opposite to be true.
I've got a pair of CXL PTBs and a pair of suede wingtips which fit slightly looser than all my other barrie lasted shoes and boots.
All my other pairs fit more or less the same.
