TSM BAD, BAD, BAD, BAD, BAD.

I pre-ordered (and paid in full in advance) the pair of #4 Cap Toe in 9E, to be cancelled by TSM in October. Now, they had the pair and sub sequently sold them to somebody else (I have nothing against the lucky guy, thou).

I didn't have a happy Thanksgivings, needless to say.

    Oh well....vented. Moving on.....

I got a pair of Ravello LWB (Crepe Sole) with similar color variations from Alden of Carmel as "Seconds" a couple of years ago. Adam did give me a substantial discount for the pair. I have been wearing the pair as my snow/rain kicks regularly.

To tell you the truth, the color variation never evens out despite using darker wax/creme on them. Your call.

are the shoes trees required for boots? my TSM 4065 just arrived, was thinking if i need one of those since i will have a pair to rotate wearing now.

And if the shoes i have are the jcrew #8 captoe in barrie 8D, and TSM 4065 in 9D..
What size shoe trees should i be getting?

a link to where i can get them cheaply will be great too.

My only concern on this topic, the BB brown PTB does not appear to have the eggplant #8 color that is so appealing. That alone would make me lean 990.

Throwing this out to the group but this is more of a question for Sevenfold,

I have the Alden for BB shell blucher on the Snap last - 9.5D.
I wear a 9D in Barrie and have a number of those.
I have a pair of NST's on the Aberdeen in 9.5D

I purchased a pair of medallion toe Blucher's, also on the Aberdeen in 9.5D, and they are too big.

My first question, has anyone seen this variability on shoes made on the same last? (NST and Blucher)

My second, the Snap last appears to have a wider toe box and a wider heel, am I correct in this assumption? Does an "E" width Aberdeen fit like a "D" width Snap?

The Alden for BB shell cordovan PTB comes in black and color 8 (burgundy). There is no brown. The BB pics are horrible.

The Alden for BB models - in my experience - actually have more egglant hues than do the factory versions. My Alden for BB color 8 PTB has wonderful egglant tones, and is considerably darker than, say, my color 8 chukkas.

Look at this link to get a flavor of what you will actually be getting in color 8 (burgundy).

A personal decision - all comes down to what you can tolerate.

Your frustration is justified. The better way to have gone about it would have been for them to contact customers that paid in full and had their orders refunded to see if they were still interested in the pair.

Thanks for the correction, very good to know. Yes, the BB pics are horrible.

It is a perfectly simple question. A question regarding hue is objective. The fit/feel question that I assume you intended as a similar example is subjective, making it far more difficult if not impossible. I asked if the cigar has more of an olive hue (as was evident in early butts) or more of a red hue (which is more common in later butts). Those are the only two options necessary to answer the question. As "three to five" answers were not even possible, yes, I would consider this an easy question to ask a proprietor of a luxury good. Given the Adam makes a living from selling only Aldens and has handled hundreds of cigar shoes, I would expect him to be able to answer a question that has only two possible answers. More olive, or more red. That's it. He could've written me the following email with which I would have been satisfied:

    Dear Potential Customer,

    Olive.

    Cold and Somewhat Indifferent Regards,
    Adam of AoC

If you're happy with his service, keep buying from him. I'm not telling you what kind of service to deem acceptable when buying your $700 shoes; don't tell me.

Today I'm wearing the cigar longwings I bought from Frans Boone.

    Exactly.

I would assume Tom (LS), Adam (AoC), Steven (Leffot) or Mike (Epaulet) would have done so if that ever happens.
TSM is just a little too big an operation to provide that "personal touch". After all, they also sell Reeboks, NB and Puma's. A pair of Alden is just another piece of merchandise. Well, but they do carry a lot of nice "merchandise".

FWIW, I have had great customer service from TSM. And actually from one of the owners himself, on more than one occasion.
