1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

How on earth is this possible? I wear a 8.5D Barrie, 9E Leydon and a 9.5D Aberdeen (Brannock is 9.5D Left/9.25D Right).

    Are my feet mutants? :O

Thanks for all the kind words and well wishes folks! With all the talk of limited availability of rare shell colors, I knew I had to jump on these. Looks like the rain has stopped and Friday is my conference call day so I will be brushing the crap out of these and hopefully snap a few more pictures.

Minas shoe repair on Wall, next to the BMW dealership, is a quality place. Minas has been in business for 30+ years, originally in the WTC. He does very good work.

Englade, quoting Shakespeare doesn't elevate your comment above the same level that you are saying is "sad." Also, implying that I am behaving childishly because I point out behavior that I consider to be childish doesn't equate the former with the latter. If that is true, then your comment brought you to the same level of childish behavior, regardless of the fact that you used Shakespeare to say it. I don't really believe that, but you seem to based on your comment.

Now, I know people are going to roll their eyes, and pull the old "please move on" card, but they are free to keep scrolling through comments that they aren't interested in. That's the beauty of a mouse. Please help me understand why it is a problem for me to consider the behavior to be juvenile? If my belief that it is juvenile is insulting, perhaps that is because the person making said decision isn't confident in their decision making process. Is that possible? One of the pillars of style is confidence in what you are purchasing and wearing. If a person legitimately likes something, and wears it confidently, they will pull off an article of clothing very well even if an observer doesn't like the item itself. However, if a person is wearing something that an observer likes, but they are fidgeting and acting self conscious in it, it isn't going to look good. Purchasing things for the simple reason that they are endorsed by a celebrity is a slippery slope towards ending up with stuff that isn't "you." The prevalence of this type of behavior is inversely proportional to age. The younger the person, the higher the prevalence of this type of behavior. That's why most people have bad memories of their middle school years.

Finally, I don't know you, and you don't know me. I don't know if you have children, and if you do, I don't know how old they are. I have young ones. I wonder if you would follow your "superior" thinking and quote Shakespeare to your middle school aged daughter when she says "Daddy, I have to have this shirt! It's the one Brittany Spears is wearing!" Or, would you do what most parents do, and say that it really doesn't matter what Brittany Spears is wearing, and proceed with the age old response that we can all see played out in our heads about how she can get just as good a shirt, for half the price, at another store, that actually may be better quality, and nobody will know the difference. The only reason she noticed it and liked it is because of a celebrity endorsement and group think. "But daddy!!! I'm not going to be cool if I don't have the same shirt that Brittany Spears is wearing! All my other friends have it too!!! Need I go on? Probably not, because we all know what I am trying to paint a picture of. We've all been through it either when we were kids ourselves, and/or as adults dealing with kids of our own. I really don't see why this is having to be explained in any level of detail, but I generally don't subscribe to group think, and it seems that those who do aren't comfortable with being told that they do.

    Very nice!
I have these in Brown CXL from LS, and love them, yours are beauts.
Uncle, despite not being Aldens, very very nice. I might need your advice on socks, all of my argyles are mid calf, and end up crunched up around my ankles before lunch...I have been converted to OTC, but need to find good Argyles that are also OTC.
Great score! I am on the lookout for Cigar PTB, so I'm a little jealous. Finally a break in the rain, so snuff suede today: [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] Unlined snuff suede chukkas (thanks Kathy at Alden DC) socks, courtesy of LS

Just got done reading the last few days of postings. My initial reaction? Relax, guys! I said this before: I work in Washington and see how corrosive a lack d civility can be to our country. If we cannot be civil with people woth whom we share similar values, with whom can we be civil?!? This is a thread about shoes, not about semantics or sarcasm. If someone says something snide, just let it slide. Your Internet posts speak for themselves in terms of their value; some detractor picking apart your words or making a judgment on what you said does not reduce the objective value. We all love Aldens. Let's keep it at that.

    Rant over.

Some proper images of the cigar PTB. The sun seems to shine a bit brighter when I get new shell shoes. I have color 8 shell (PCT boots) and AE burgundy shell (Leeds/PTB and Macneil/LWB) but for me they all pale in comparison to cigar.

Mr. President, I rise today to second the statement of the good gentleman and fellow member from the District of Columbia. I also reserve the balance of my time and to revise and extend my remarks at a later date. It is with civility and deference toward others that we separate ourselves from the animals in the forests. Now I must get back to buffing my shoes.
