Mixed feelings on the crepe but the Roy Boot seems to just work for some reason. And I think it's J. Crew that has a natural cxl LWB with a crepe sole that looked pretty good. Very casual but I'm not sure I'd be dressing up those LWBs anyway

Unfortunately I might have to sell my Cigar Captoe boots on Grant last purchased from Kathy (Alden DC) 3 months ago. Grant last, size 9. Worn 3 times in excellent condition. PM me if interested.

    cheers

It's the sort of thing you buy solely to wear on the weekends or casual Fridays.

I had a pair of Aldens on a crepe sole and they're honestly not far off from sneakers in terms of cushion and comfort. I am planning on picking up a crepe sole model (that fits me better) in the near future for those weekend excursions that involve a lot of walking, but where I don't want to wear sneakers.

I had written off anything with a crepe sole as something I'd never buy but am now reconsidering after all this talk about comfort.

Just beautiful. One I'd like to add to my rotation one day.

this obviously depends on your own situation - but - I find typically myself in a situation where crepe soles would be considered too casual <5 times a year on average. That would be weddings, funerals, and interviews...obviously my workplace is casual enough that sneakers are fine, so it's not like my crepe soled boots will be looked down upon :)

Fridays are a home office day for me and I'm usually burdened with multiple conference calls. This allows me hours of uninterrupted shoe care time. I decided to have a go at my new #8 cap toe boots. If there is a model that's crying for a mirror toe, it is the cap toe. Because they are color 8 and have very little contrast, it's hard to capture the shine in an image.

Boots are only a week old and looked great with just a good brushing (pics posted above earlier today). I applied a coat of Renovateur to the entire upper, brushed, then applied a few extremely thin coats of Saphir Cordovan wax, followed by more brushing. I finished by buffing. The pictures are a bit deceiving but there is no wax at all past the cap. The wax actually stops just shy of the brogued section.
