1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Hey guys a quick sizing question:

I wear 8.5EEE in AE's 5-65 last (Strands) and they are a little long but the width is good.
I have 8.5EE ranger mocs from Rancourt & Co and they are a little narrow, so I know I have a super wide foot.

I have no real access to any Alden stores or any high end shoe stores for that matter, so what size would I be for TruBalance/Barrie lasts? (Looking to get some Indy's or something similar soon but can't size myself and nowhere offers > E widths)

All the whiskey pics and warm spring weather influenced my choice of footwear today.

I have a similar fit but in 12 EEE. For boots on TruBalance/Barrie I find TTS (8.5 EEE for you) works well. It gives you more width and length isn't as important in a boot. For shoes you'll probably have to go down at least a half size.

Alden SF should be able to set you up with a EEE (http://www.aldenshop.com/DrawSearchBySize.aspx)

They are about a year old, obtained them via the Alden DC MTO thread. We gave Kathy the details of our make-up and Alden produce them. Whiskey shell, speedhooks, storm welt, close heel, double waterlock sole & Foot Balance heel. Kathy is the best. :)

    The captoes?
Just go to the J Crew website and pick your size. It says when they're expected.

    Hello folks,

I'm in a bit of a pickle here. Firstly, I fit a trubalance boot in 10.5, so using the same logic that a Barrie last runs ~0.5 size larger like the trubalance, I bought a LWB in 10.5 and it fits a little big. Well I have a cap toe boot on the Barrie last preordered in a 10.5 and I worry it will fit me a tad larger like the LWB in the same size. Does the boot fit differently from a shoe much? Granted I do wear thinner dress socks with the shoe as opposed to thicker socks with the boot, but I still figured the difference wouldn't be that drastic.

Should I order a size 10 in the cap toe boot, too, and return the one that doesn't fit or forgo it and perhaps accept the fact that Barrie last simply doesn't fit my feet well. On a side note, I want a wing tip boot on the grant last from shoemart - should I go 10.5 here?

I suppose I could go to sherman brothers (closest alden supplier near me) but they really don't stock too many boots in store so I fear I won't be able to make an accurate size estimate by visiting one of their stores.

    Thanks!

8.5 in Trubalance and was my first Alden. It fits.

8.0 in Barrie. All my barries fit identical. (including boots).

After getting the 8 in the barrie, I sort of realized I could probably have been good with a 8.0 in Trubalance, but didn't really notice the extra room b/c it's a boot and you tie it around your ankle, so I'm not swimming in it. It's super comfy too, so didn't really question it. However, 8.5 in barrie was definitely too big.
