I love the #8 straight tip - one of my top 3 most frequently worn shoes. Mine don't look nearly as good as yours though...

The captoe (straight tip) shell blucher is great - dressed up with a suit; dressed down with twills (ala Mac). I have it in color 8, black, and ravello (all Alden; color 8 is BB), and dark brown (C&J). I highly recommend it to anyone who might be on the fence on this model.

Is the BB version single layer sole or double like the alden version? Any other possible differences?

There are some visual differences, even if slight. Go to the BB website and Shoemart website and compare. The BB version of this shoe just returned to BB online about 3-4 weeks ago. It had been gone for a number of months. The BB version in color 8 is one of my favorite dress shoes.

The detailing on the back of the shoe gives it away. It is the factory version on the Aberdeen.

Don't filter on cordovan. That has happened to me before as well. Go to all shoes and locate it - price is 650.
