1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

If an order is placed by noon eastern, BB ships out overnight shipments and 2 day shipments the same day as the order. I use each service frequently.

    They're certainly not shell cordovan.

The J Crew 405 Indy boots are chromexcel. Basically, they are the 403 with a different ankle stitch pattern.

Are you trying to compete with DocAlden?

People like you make me feel like it's okay to purchase several pairs of shoes in rapid succession.
Quote: I had no idea. Kind of interesting though.

Now I'll probably make a similar reference IRL to his black penny loafers and nobody will know what I'm talking about. Then when I explain, I'll look even weireder for having known that.

Thank you, sir. Those are the ultra trees that he threw in too! Must have made it hard to refuse.

Quote: I agree. The crepe works tremendously well on that particular boot. I think OP is correct that it is the snuff color that creates the exception here. They do look ridiculously comfortable. You could probably really sneak up on someone in those boots without making a sound.

Quote: So kind of you to say so, sir.[IMG] (Blush)

Sometimes I post so much that I annoy myself, so I'm glad to have added some perceived value in some small way.

Quote: I absolutely agree. If Alden released a Ravello figure skate today, people would buy them. Those with wide feet would be remiss that they only came in D width.

People would inquire if B. Nelson could put a different type of blade on them, or convert them to a commando sole.

    Edit:

P.S. I ordered some Uniqlo socks last night and they were on my doorstep 14hrs later. (Applause)

Great makeup... Nice color for spring / summer (if it ever arrives).

It is on a crepe sole though :nest:

Whenever I see shoes in unusual colors with a big fat natural colored welt, I immediately think of Trickers.

My experience is different with the Marlow.

I wear it TTS, and the color of the brown shell is darker than a few of my cigar models. It is a very nice shoe. Does anyone own the Marlow and the brown shell Lindrick boot? Do you find them redundant?

They are a bit Trickers-esque, but they lack the huge eyelets that you typically see in their shoes... The lack of brouging also makes this shoe look a bit sleeker and more like a traditional Alden.

I like how the laces interact with the natural welt

I figured they weren't shell for that price.

I read a few pages back that you were a 8.5d in Barrie and 8d in Trubalance, but I couldn't post because I'm new. What's your athletic shoe size? When I was at Unionmade a couple of weeks ago I was surprised that I fit into a 403 in 8d (I'm usually a 9.5 in athletic shoes). Unfortunately, I didn't try on anything else and now I've got the Alden bug real bad and there's no Alden shops in Miami.

    Thanks

I've got both Marlows and Lindricks. They're not excessively redundant.
Of course I also bought cigar WT boots so I may not be the best one to comment about redundancy.

I guess it's argyles and Ravello LWB day. These are from Leffot via B&S...

I am wearing my ravellos today also but without argyles. Mine appear to be lighter but I guess it's because these pics are in the wild (outdoors) on a sunny day...

Also, I would have to agree with SevenFold... the Marlows I have are noticeably darker than my cigar LWB, but it may be a lighter batch of cigar that I have.

Welt style is different I believe (360 reverse welt direct from Alden and flat welt from BB). BB PTBs also have metal eyelets while direct Alden version has blind eyelets.

They're built on different lasts. N58 for the BB, Barrie for the Alden. The BB has a slimmer profile compared to the Alden. Sleeker some would say. I felt that the BB had a snugger fit. Check out the available photos of each. Best way to go is to try them on if you can.
