UPS and FedEx will add a broker fee (for handling the paperwork) even when there is no duty owed on the imported goods. Whenever possible, I have the goods shipped by the postal service (Royal Mail etc.). The US Postal Service handles the delivery on our side, and they have never charged me a broker fee only the actual duties owed. Hope this helps.

Crepe is a good option for those particular shoes, especially if you wear Aldens casually or have a wide collection of Aldens... I find my cigar PTBs on crepe are my go to cordovan shoes in bad weather. They work in any weather with denim. I dont think Aldens crepe is less "durable" than leather, it is just a different look and feel. As far of the feel of them, they are comfortable, though I think double leather soled shoes are comfortable as well. Honestly it is just a different look and more wet weather traction

    Thanks for all the inputs.

I do dress casually all the time & pretty often go sockless with rolled up chino / denim. So, I guess the look of the shell on the crepe sole fits the bill.

One more question - will the crepe goes sticky in hot weather because it's rubber? I have a pair (non Alden) with crepe sole & it's a little sticky after awhile. Maybe it's the quality of the material used as well.

Not sure what you mean but soles are fine. Shoes are only four months old.

Sadly coupling my camera phone and piss-poor photography skills resulted in pics that could use a little work...but still you should be able to see how great this leather is. Sadly, the pics just don't do it justice.

I'd recommend Venetian Creme and lots of brushing, but Saphir Renovateur works well too.
