1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Thank you Steel.

That reminds me, I need to get Mac-ing tonight to get a scratch out of these.

Do your cigars have an olive under tone? Looking at these, it seems there's some dark green spots going on.

Joshua: Yes, I have noticed an olive undertone on these PTBs as well as my LWBs. My cigar Indys and my cigar WT boots don't seem to have it.

I think I have a new favorite - unlined PTBs from Alden DC

They are comfortable right out of the box and look so sleek - here is how they look next to a double leather soled LWB:

    Dr D, those look sleek!

I'm not familiar with the benefits of the unlined PTBs. Can someone explain please? Thanks.

Question for all you Alden Genii: I'm a 13D in the AE MacNeil (welted 7-97 Last). It seems the only Cordovan Alden LWB I can find (that isn't Color 8) is a Whiskey in 12E. Is there any chance this might work for me and my clownish feet?

Much softer, more comfortable and will give some pretty cool creases.

    See bold text below...
The pair I ordered for my dad won't ship till 4/8, but I see what you mean, some sizes aren't listed. I guess that means they aren't in stock and aren't expected to be.

Will do! I would be fine with or without it. Originally I preferred the foxing, but now that I have two shell pairs without it, that design has grown on me.

Thinking of sanding the sole edges and re-staining them antique, but we'll see.

I hear that, especially NY sales tax, 8.9% [IMG]

From what I can tell the biggest difference is that they are much more flexible and lighter. Combined with the single flex-sole it makes a huge difference in comfort after a long day. Not to mention there appears to be absolutely no break-in period like there would be with a double leather sole. I previously noticed this in unlined LHS as well - they were comfortable right out of the box while standard LHS took a while to loosen up, particularly across the strap. Many prefer unlined shoes when going sockless because it breathes better, although I'm not an advocate of that look. CTYGGG has posted many pics of his unlined PTBs here so perhaps he can add some first hand details.

I think Leather Soul made the original run in 2009 and both they and Alden SF followed up with more in 2012. I asked Tom Park and Alden SF and they both said they were not planning to make any more so I jumped when I heard that DC had these on order. In addition to improved comfort, to me the lower profile sole makes this look much more business-appropriate than the standard PTB.

those do look great, I definitely prefer the dover pattern on the PTB. I have always been a little leery of this unlined version as I'm not a big fan of excessive creasing. Though, if the sizing is dialed in really well the creasing might not be more than usual???

These look great. Not Barrie, are they on grant? I don't have cigar boots (yet), I would like something on grant or plaza.

Is there a site that has a list of all the currently available Indy Boots and how they differ?

I know that the JCrew Indy Boots have that heel stitching and are made of Chromexcel.
And I know there's a shell version out there, as well as a natural color.
    Pretty hard decision to make.
