1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

2 pickups in one day. I think I might have a problem.

Alden for Unionmade. Ranger Mocc lace-up in Loden Green. The color is really hard to capture but I'd call it a gorgeous warm olive green. Single flex welt sole. Yum.

    looks very nice. enjoy wearing

I remember reading about a "pencil technique" by which you slip your foot in and lay a pencil (screwdriver, dowel, chopstick, whatever) across the location you want the crease. I've never tried it, but seems like it should work to "train" the leather.

Yeah, it was on AAAC, Pencil Method, here you go.

Been reading and posting in this thread for months, but have never seen this question come up.

Does anyone have a specific way of making first creases in brand new shell cordovan boots or shoes?

I've always slipped my feet in without much thought and started walking around. Usually works fine, but there have been two times when one of the boots broke an initial crease in a funny way that sort of annoyed me.

When the most recent crop of cigar LWBs went up at Shoemart, I said to myself "Dude, you have a perfectly good pair of deep brown cordovan Darlton shortwings that you actually wear on a regular basis. You don't need to drop another $650 just to have a nearly identical shoe in a longwing version."

Seeing this photo makes me second guess myself. Gorgeous shoes.

    thank you

    Ah, thanks for that.

I'm not sure I completely understand it, to be honest. Has anyone tried this?

^ I tried it on a number of shell shoes. At best, it did little to form the crease. All the pairs I tried this on eventually developed the regular chaotic creases. Maybe if you walked around with a pen pushed on your shoe for a week you might get something out of it.

Right now, 6/15 but we're still waiting on the City of Beverly Hills to give us the ok.

If you order 10 EG MTOs I might consider giving you 10% off. [IMG]

Tom, so you just hold a pen firmly against the leather directly above the spot where your toes meet your foot (flex point)....and then flex forward a few times to set the crease?
