The only thing stopping me is fear of the awkwardness of trying on a handful of super expensive shoes and then booking it so that I can order something more awesome from the internet.

I also feel uncomfortable doing this (though I've done it in the past). What's the etiquette on trying on stuff at a store with zero intent to buy because it always makes me feel like a jerk.

Are those from Leather Soul? I thought the ones Tom had were a leather soul not crepe.

No, these are seconds from TheShoeMart.

I think it's a DB move, especially for a boutique store. To correct this I would find a standard model that I want that they have and get fitted for a few lasts and get the one I wanted.

You should not be trying on cordovan unless you are looking to buy IMHO.

Interesting you say that - the one time I was fitted was not at a boutique shop, I asked the rep if I could be sized on a shoe on the Barrie last expecting him to grab a lower-end design and the he instead picked up a pair of cordovan PTBs for me to try on, which surprised me a bit as I wasn't totally comfortable trying on a $600+ pair of shoes I knew I couldn't afford. I would definitely go back to them for a standard model, as I'd prefer to support a local business over an internet shop, but I was getting sized for a collab.

Grabbing the cordovan was his choice so that is on him. I understand the want to get sized so that you can get collabs offered by stores you cannot visit. The good thing is once you know your sizes on the various lasts you can do that more readily.

We've got a makeup of 18 units scheduled for later this Spring - but it will be a Navy suede unlined chukka on the Leydon last & flex-welt sole.

Last thing I'll post about my issue with my Indy tongue sliding to the left: Got the tongue tacked for $4. Works like a charm! Thanks so much to jasonfoote303 for his extremely helpful pics!

Gotcha. Thanks for the info. Any idea on the next run of the Plaza Wingtip?

Next run will be brown cromexcel, all metal eyelets, due in a couple months. There's a small preview pic up on my Alden factory report.

Thanks. They will be great, guaranteed. The next shoe that I think will cause a major stir (ala Red Soul Longwing) will be the Plaza Indy, which you can also see a little sneak peak of in my report.
