This is dumb, lets move on, but I haven't seen Horween compare Reno vs Venetian directly. I'm sure Venetian is a great product too, but I am not conducting an obsessive campaign against it.

I think Saphir is worth the money, and others on the thread agree.

I have tried Venetian, Removateur and Saphir cordovan cream. The latter is the best IMHO and frankly not that dear considering what we pay for shell shoes.

I'm not asking people to agree with me or not to. You should not just follow the herd though either. Do your own research, etc.

We all make our own decisions about how we want to spend our money, after all.

See this SF interview with Nick Horween:

"What are your favorite products to use for the preservation and maintenance of shell cordovan?

My standby is neutral Venetian Cream. C.A. Zoes is a great, old Chicago company and they make great stuff. There are so many different great products out there, though. The Saphir line is also great, and I know there are a million different products that people swear by. Everyone has a slightly different preference, so I always encourage people to use the products that give them the appearance they like."

    Seriously?

I've stated my opinions and backed them up with facts.

Don't agree with them if you don't want to, what do I care?

It's evident you know there is truth to what I'm saying, or you wouldn't feel the need to try to lash out like you are.

Quite childish, and I think you've lost a lot of credibility among those reading. Blocked you.

So I'll take that as a "yes".

Dammit can we please stop bickering about this? It's been played out enough. Mediahound doesnt prefer Reno, others do. Lets move on please.

He was referring to your comment about Saphir being "worse performing" being your opinion. I think we all agree about the Venetian being less expensive than Reno. Then again, this is a forum for $700 shoes so saving $10 on a can of shoe cream is not much of a priority for most of us. What I think we care about are products that do a wonderful job of conditioning our expensive shoes and clearly both Venetian and Saphir Reno do that with subtle differences in consistency, smell and end result. Perhaps you can just leave it at that without pounding your fist on the table and loudly proclaiming one product as pure hype and marketing b.s.

Others should also keep in mind that Horween's shells are apparently sourced from France: http://www.gentlemansgazette.com/cordovan-leather-from-horween/.

Obviously, he was referencing that you believe it is worse-performing.

Alden of Carmel cigar long wings. In addition to the Mac Method and Reno, I rub the creases out with my thumb as soon as I take the shoes off my feet and place them in shoe trees.
