I hope you guys could help. I own one pair of Aldens which I picked up on my last trip to US. It's the Alden for Brooks Brothers shortwing on Plaza last in 8.5C. This is by far the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned. I also fell in love with the quality of Alden shoes so I am keen to buy more.

Would it be safe to say that if I now choose to get a pair of longwings on the Barrie last, I should also stick with the C width or would the D width be ok after a size down by half. Your help is really appreciated.

I have used the following products on my shells with great success: Alden Paste Wax, Saphir Reno, Saphir Shell Cordovan Cream; Venetian Shoe Cream. Venetian is what Horween recommends, as a previous poster stated. All of them should be used sparingly and, in my judgment, never more than one of them during a treatment. I have found that the Saphir products do infuse a bit of moisture (oils) into the shoe when compared to Alden Paste Wax and Venetian. Saphir Reno has never darkened my whiskey shell. All shells - bar none - should undergo a treatment of Alden Defender, IMO.

I was completely indifferent to shell chukkas (or chukkas in general) until I scored them in cigar and whiskey. The rest is history.

How long until a pay of shell boots hits $1000? I am trying to finish up my collection as soon as possible because shell is jumping in price and it is getting harder and harder to get cigar, ravello, and whiskey. The good news is whatever you get now will last you a long time. [IMG]

I have them also. They are from Tassels in Hong Kong. It is snuff and navy suede. They are a great spring/summer/fall shoe. Tassels puts out some great designs and their customer service is fantastic. Wallace and Vicky are great to work with.

Considering Alden increases prices anywhere from 5% to 7% every year...

I thought all BB Alden's were on the "Snap Last"?

Also, its said to be impossible to know for sure without trying them on, as everyone's feet are different. Just because you wear one size in a particular last does not mean you wear a certain size in another last, just because someone else does.

Sorry that I can't provide you with a more definitive answer.
