I have the Snuff, it's much better looking in my opinion ..... different Chukka look.

    beales arrived...quick shot...

I was thinking about maybe replacing the top row of eyelets on each shoe with brass eyelets. Frans boone has a cigar ptb with all brass and it's a bit much for me, but maybe doing just the top would add a nice accent without overpowering it...

    satisfying or sacrilege?

(then again, I think the FB brass eyelets are amazing)

Agree with this. It'd probably look off just having the top row. They look good how they are, but I think brass eyelets would look good too.

I think brass eyelets would be great, too, especially given the contrast between the light-coloured welt and the rich cigar upper/edge trim.

I would go with the color8, but I find AoC to be pretty rude and unreasonable. i would never buy from him again.
    leathersoul is amazing.
cigar shell chukka is the way to go i think though, as cigar shell is hard to come by that is a superb classic makeup.

Because I have the day off and nothing to do, here is a rainbow of shell for your viewing pleasure. Direct sunlight is pretty harsh; for example, the cigar shell doesn't usually appear so olive, but the blazing sun revealed some green undertones. Nevertheless, this photo may help some folks get a feel for how the most common colors compare.

    From left to right:
    Alden color #8 (new)
    Alden color #8 (old)
    Alden cigar (new)
    C&J brown (RL Polo, old)
    Alden ravello (new-ish)
Alden whiskey (starting to age, and looking more like ravello each year)

I think it's a tough call between the AF53 and the jumper boot. I think the jumper boot looks better if you compare the brand-new pics on each website, but after seeing Morgan's picture, it's a real tough decision. I think once the AF53 starts creasing, it's a fantastic-looking boot. I'd probably go with the AF53 out of those. In my opinion though, nothing really beats the Alden X J.Crew QB boot in color #8.

this picture to me is a very compelling argument for those on the ravello obscura pre order to consider whiskey as a more expediant alternative.

    ^great family shot Morgan

Epaulet #8 Brixtons again....whoever said darker shell colors are not appropriate summer wear needs to get out in the sun more often! I love the way #8 shell looks in bright sunlight :slayer:

Oh wow those AF53 are gorgeous. Too bad they don't have an 8.5 in stock.

I didn't realize you were behind the "A Rich Inner Life" blog. Your blog helped get me into Alden shoes - great work

Almost feel bad stating this in an Alden thread, but of those shoes above ^^, the most immediately appealing brown is on the C&J Marlows... :embar:
