Alden SF, as of last Friday, though in limited sizes.

    Who carries a Ravello belt?

(i'm not sure if those are your only Aldens) See if it were me, I feel like you have the dark brown covered in both cxl and three cigar make-ups already.

I'd look to #8 or Ravello shoe/boot of some sort next; my $0.02

Question: I own shoes on the Trubalance, Grant, Aberdeen, Plaza lasts and recently acquired a pair of Barrie-lasted Ravello SWB, can anyone speak to the sizing difference between different Barrie styles?

The forefoot feels a bit snug on the sides and I wonder if it is due to the SWB design as I remember a captoed Trubalance was also a tighter fit than its Indy/plaintoe counterpart. Can anyone speak to how the different styles fit in relation to each other? [Chukka, boot, captoe, LWB/SWB, PTB, unlined, etc]

    Thanks!

Barrie/Trubalance/Van = go one half size down

Thanks - I knew that but I was asking more along the lines of sizing variations within the Barrie last, but just among different styles (aka Chukka, unlined, PTB, SWB, LWB, captoe, etc). It's not something that will probably justify a size change but I'm curious to see how people feel about the minute fit differences. I'd imagine the Chukka would feel a lot looser than say, a PTB.

I find it's never an exact science. I have a shell LWB and a shell SWB and my SWb is roomier; both on the barrie. The uppers on the SWB lace up closer than the LWB. Go figure.

Ah - I had imagined it'd be the opposite!

Interesting - what about the rest of the shoe? I guess since both have extra material around the front that they'd feel the same.

oh i see. sorry no coffee yet.

    ok.
chukka is going to be the loosest (2 eyelets)
followed by the ptb (as the lacing is closer together, thereby rendering less room to pull it tighter if need be)
followed by shortwing (which again has a pretty close lacing system, but not as close as the ptb... this is also the same blucher lacing as the captoe and the nst - literally the same model, they just change the front).
if its unlined, its going to be even looser, and its only when its unlined would i suggest trying an even smaller size (trying, not necessarily committing unless you are confident after having it on your foot in the store).

edit: i find the long wing offers the most grip, as the lacing is pretty far apart.

    hope that helps!

I have a pair of these in my normal Barrie size and they are perfect. I've got the same shoe in suede in the same size and they are perfect as well. I've got Barrie shoes in shell LWB, nubuck PTB, and shell chukkas, all the same size, and they all fit properly for me. You could always give the 10D a try and then put it back up for sale if it doesn't work. You may lose a few bucks in the attempt, but if it works then it's a win. They are great shoes.

I have whiskey, ravello, etc... Color 8 is readily available, I think I will get some of those in the fall. Cigar chukkas in my size are rarer, and after this I'll likely be done with cigar for a while. My cigar PTBs are on crepe and are basically a rain dress shoe, and I wear the cigar captoe boots in fall/winter, so a cigar chukka could be a good option for spring/summer.

Though the color 8 unlined dover is tempting...
