+1, I need to see a full picture of you wearing those trousers. Reminds me of Austin Powers.

Along the lines of today's chattering about Horween's quality control and the lack of Ravello, see below from Need Supply.

It must be a very talented calf that is able to produce Horween shell cordovan...

I like those a LOT. Tassel loafers always seem a little effeminate / elf like to me.

These are from a couple of years ago but they are indeed a red/brown and I love it. Ravello has a character and color that is both modern and aged. I find Alden DC does a lot of the same makeups over the years.

    Wear in good health! :slayer:

not true - I inquired with Horween, and received a response that all of their cordovan shell is a byproduct of the food industry -

indeed, this was brought to light the page before this.
in any event, that still means they are not killed for the purpose of the hide; the hide is the byproduct of another industry.

is horween public btw, as in, in the market?

I recently ordered my first two pairs of shells in the same size (8.5e), same last (aberdeen). I ordered these sizes as my Alden calf BB tassels in 8.5E fit great (i think these are made on the aberdeen last but I could be wrong). The first shell pair are straight tip blutchers. These fit pretty well (feel comforable, not much heel slippage, width seems good, ball sits slightly behind widest part of shoe, there is about an inch or a slight touch more from the tip of my biggest toe to the front of the shoe's interior). The second shell pair are medallion cap toes. While they are the same size, the heel seems much wider in this pair causing fairly significant heel slippage in this pair. Is this normal? Will shell shape to fix the slippage? Also, is about an inch in the toe box close to normal? I am debating whether I need to size down to a 8E. Thanks for your help.

If you are in the US the reason they are legalizing horse slaughter is because it is felt that horse slaughter is more humane In the US than the alternatives. We were basically outsourcing our problem and it was no better for the animals. I am not sure there are currently any plans for horse slaughter for human consumption in the US and horse slaughter for human consumption is still banned in a few states as far as I know.
